Do I study the entire SIM to get my A license?

I found a d/l .pdf version online, but it is 225pages. Should I print and study this thing, or are there certain sections that pertain to the exam? Please advise.

You should read it, you'll find Quizzes after each section, that way you can practice for your oral test (is in your prof. card)

the SIM used start off with the sections that were needed for each license. USPA has included this information (sorta) in their online SIM (http://www.uspa.org/publications/SIM/SIMtext/Appendix_B.htm).

read that and see if it helps any.

From what ive read the A exam is over the first 116 pages. It may be cheaper just to buy it unless you get toner cartriges for free. Good luck

I wouldn't advise printing the whole thing out! It's cheaper to buy the SIM than paying for the ink cartrages at about $60 a pop! Good Luck!

AAAHH....hey sweetie....Section in the back tells you specifically what sections to study for your test. But it is handy to have the manual - as boring as it is.

Thanks all, yeah, i've been studying it. Skymama, shhh (why u gotta rat me out? lol!!) .

I'm feeling a little discouraged on the license thing, my card feels so blank, I don't think i'll ever get it done:( Maybe i'll just make fun jumps, instead:D

Don't feel so bad, a couple of jumps can fill 3 or 4 items, jump and you'll see.

At Perris, you pay 10 bucks to rent the SIM manual before taking the test. All the questions in the exam are highlighted in different colors...depending on what license exam you are taking.

Much easier!

Don't feel so bad, a couple of jumps can fill 3 or 4 items, jump and you'll see.

Yeah, i've got a bunch filled out, but there's so much more! All that pilot stuff, and then i've taken the packing class but someone has to watch me pack and sign that. Then there is the equipment stuff, changing a closing loop. I have to make a group dive. There are just so mannnnnyyy things!! ahhh!

Oh C'mon don't be such a cry-baby!!!!, the loop will take you 5 secs, the equipment stuff a few minutes, is not that hard, packing, well...take your time, learn well and you'll be fine.

C'MON SHOW SOME POSITIVE MOTIVATION OVER HERE!!!!

Ok, ur right! Thanks for the encouragement! I will go to an instructor this wknd and tell them that I want to complete the card, what can I do.? I didn't even know about the SIM until I found out from you in another thread, and didn't think I actually had to read it 'til another dz.commer pointed that out to me, haha!. Got through chap 3 so far. . . I'm workin' on it:)

Yup read it and also the QUIZZES, they help a lot.

Some people might find the SIM boring, but is a good source of info.
