A liscence procedure

Recommended Posts

I am confused as to what is exactly required to get you A liscence.
I had 19 jumps in September with all my requirements done (on the yellow card). I just needed a 20th jump, but couldnt get it in. All I had to do after that was a simple test to get my "A"

I then changed DZ's due to other reasons. I have made my last 5 jumps at this DZ. So i just got my 25th yesterday, and I am wondering, they wanted me to do another evaluation dive. Is this totally necesarry according to USPA? The SIM confuses me!

What are the required elements to get your "A" liscence according to the USPA? And do you have to fax it in and get a number, or can you simply use that card with the stamp?

You should send/fax it in and get a lic number once you meet the requirements. (If you want/have to be a uspa member)

Does your A-card have the A-license check dive initialled off? If so, then all that ought to be neccessary is for school manager/Instructor/S&TA to give you the oral exam and stamp your card. If they are questioning the vailidity of your card, then simply have them contact your old DZ.

From the SIM:
>>
A License

1. Persons holding a USPA A license may jump without supervision, pack their own main parachute, engage in basic group jumps, perform water jumps, and must have-

a. completed 25 jumps

b. completed all requirements listed on the USPA A License Proficiency Card

c. completed five group freefall skydives involving at least two participants

d. received the signature and official stamp on the USPA A License Proficiency Card or USPA A License Progression Card (ISP)

Note: For USPA A-license registration purposes only, USPA Headquarters will accept either completed card signed by a USPA Instructor (signature on file at USPA Headquarters) without the official stamp. The registration fee must be included.

Edited to add - Do you have an A license check dive logged? This is the dive flow (once again from the SIM):

Spot.

Choose a comfortable exit.

Perform a 360-degree turn to the right and left, and backloop.

The evaluator moves 20 feet from the candidate and level.

Dock on the evaluator.

Initiate breakoff and track a minimum of 100 feet.

Wave off and pull by 3,000 feet.

Follow your pre-selected landing pattern.

I guess I'm lucky at my DZ... there seems to be lots of coaches that are willing to do jumps with the students. As for all the things you need to recite about safety, etc, I find that after the last load of the day there are always coaches/instructors willing to to go over safety stuff with you. Thats just my personal experience. Good luck. :)
