arai 0 #1 January 26, 2006 any suggestions for a weeklong skydiving trip? I'm trying to put together a trip for june or july for a week and just forget about work and crap and jump out of planes. so far I've been thinking two ways which are pretty different 1: something like rantoul where I can go for a week and experience differnt aircraft, good parties and a lot of fun/getting to meet a lot of dz members or 2. something more layed back. I like the idea of just going to elsinore and staying in the bunkhouse and jumping/hanging out on the dz. I'm in the pacific northwest so I think option two is slightly cheaper, as I can get flights to LA more reasonable. I'm a new jumper and should have about 60 jumps by the time rantoul comes around
Genn 0 #2 January 26, 2006 Have you considered the Lost Prairie Boogie? End of July, I think.
arai 0 #3 January 26, 2006 I hadnt seen that one yet (thanks). I'm currently going through the calender, sometimes with the amount of stuff listed its hard to sort out the bigger boogies as its the first I've heard of them all, and If I do my trip through a boogie I'd like it to be a decent sized one where I can get in a lot of days of jumping. their website seems to be down but I'll try again later. cheers

Peej 0 #7 January 26, 2006 Your profile says you are a student, don't forget that some boogies (if not all) require a certain amount of jumps for you to jump there. I've done the Freefall Convention as well as just staying in the IHOP at Perris, both rock man, you'll meet great people, do some quality jumps and make some great memories. Dougiefresh 0 #8 January 26, 2006 1. Stay at the IHOP at Perris, do the tunnel and jump there, then drive over to Elsinore (30 min away) for a couple of days. Both are great DZs with cool, highly skilled people. 2. Summerfest at SDC. Always a good time. If you get tired of jumping, there's always canoeing, horseback riding, or swimming in the pond. I stay away from Rantoul. 1 fatality/year average, need I say more? Lots of people, essentially a new dz for everyone, and lots of partying just don't mix. Especially at low jump numbers -- your awareness simply isn't fully developed yet.Human beings, who are almost unique in having the ability to learn from the experience of others, are also remarkable for their apparent disinclination to do so. --Douglas Adams
Genn 0 #9 January 26, 2006 Not sure the web addy you are trying to use, but this is the one in my favorites and seems to be working. http://www.skydivelostprairie.com/ I think they require an A license.
arai 0 #10 January 26, 2006 thanks, I was thinking it might be early for a place like rantoul but thought I'd ask for advice from more experienced jumpers. Like I said I'll have about 60 dives by then but I know thats still infant numbers when it comes to skydiving.

This turned out to be one of the best times I had in skydiving so far. Learned a lot and met quite a few great people.
