Becoming a packer in SA

Recommended Posts

Hi All,

I should be doing my AFF in the next couple of months. At the moment im trying to figure out how to get a little extra money in on top of my salary so I can get as many jumps in as possible.
More or less how much do packers make per pack job? How many packs can you do in a day? What course do you have to go on? How much is the course? Do packers need to have X amount of jumps before they pack other peoples chutes?
Any other info I should know?
I live in Johannesburg, SA. My future home DZ will be JSC so replies from peeps from there would be awesome! But replies from anyone also welcome.

Cheers,

Mark

Hi Mark,

A packer makes about R20 - R 30 per pack job.

Go to JSC and speak to the the DZO or CI.

Im not sure if you have to pay for the packing course. One of the instructors will show you , but the CI will be able to tell you who.
JSC is very busy so you might be able to pack about 10 - 20 per day.

Im going to JSC 2morrow B|

Hey Mark,

You need to be at the DZ to learn to pack.
There is no real course as such so no fee.
You need to practice under supervision and then be awarded your packing licence.

You can also get regular clients on the DZ who you can pack for.

R30 per pack.

Buzz me if you need more info and I can put you in touch with some people there to help you set up.
