Ron 7 #28 December 17, 2010 Quotethere are two common methods: the one i was taught was; look, locate, punch right punch left ARCH! and the other one is grab red, peel, punch, toss find silver pull arch. way to many steps in my opinion but it seems to work And you left out important steps in each one. the one i was taught was; look, locate GRAB RIGHT, look, locate GRAB LEFT,ARCH! PEAL RIGHT, punch right, PEAL LEFT, punch left ARCH! and the other one is grab red, LOOK RESERVE peel, punch, toss find GRAB silver pull arch. way to many steps in my opinion but it seems to work You don't cutaway and *then* start looking for the reserve. You either have it in your hand, or are looking at it before you cutaway. You might want to spend some time in a harness, or at least talk to an instructor. I do the one hand each handle (have to for tandems) and I like that method best. Ron 7 #29 December 17, 2010 Quotekeep in mind if caught doing that, S&TA's will ground you! Worse, the reserve is not a guaranty. Back in 93(?) in Keystone, FL a guy passed his AFF eval and to celebrate cutaway a perfectly good main to get a baglock on his reserve."No free man shall ever be debarred the use of arms." -- Thomas Jefferson, Thomas Jefferson Papers,

DSE 3 #31 December 17, 2010 QuoteI prefer one hand per handle while wingsuiting ... after all, wings can cover handles. I was trained one hand per. All of my cutaways except my first jump/tandem have been in a wingsuit. The last cutaway I was in a spin on my back not unlike Steph's. One hand for cutaway, but Dring was covered in nylon. There was no thought; I went to two hands automatically. If you have a plan and muscle memory, I'd submit that changing up the plan isn't going to be a problem when a revision is called for. There are two generally accepted methods, not exactly 'many'. Please read my post again and you will see that there is ARCH in there...
