Remember when Obama was born in Hawaii, and republicans said that therefore he wasn't a US citizen?  It was the #1 talking point of all his republican opponent's campaigns, and continued for years afterwards, long after Obama produced his US birth certificate.  Conservatives here demanded his birth certificate incessantly even after he produced it, and demanded his resignation on that basis.

Santos has bragged to co-workers in his past that he was born in Brazil and spent most of his life there - despite the requirement that any US representative be a US citizen for seven years.

And republicans haven't made a peep about birth certificates or naturalization papers.

What a bunch of hypocrites.

Like the Ds said the Steele Dossier was legitimate, the Hunter Biden laptop was Russian disinformation and the COVID-19 lab leak theory was a right wing conspiracy theory. The only thing newsworthy about the Santos story is that he is a Republican.

Not because a black lesbian could not possibly perform at that level, but because identity politics only allowed white heterosexual men into those roles.

Actually they found 13 qualified women, but decided that being women was disqualification enough. Link. I'm sure you can find disqualifying information about each of them -- but I'm equally sure you could find disqualifying information about each of the men who was chosen if you looked just as hard.

If you look, you can find disqualifying or qualifying information about lots of people for nearly every job in the world. Prejudice is cherry picking that information because you're either too lazy or too whatever to actually come up with a truly unbiased way to measure. That would require questioning one's own motives.

I have no idea what was in the minds of voters in 2019 who elected Lightfoot, but her opponent in the runoffs was Toni Preckwinkle, also a black woman with a good track record as a competent administrator (unlike Lightfoot).  Unfortunately she had enough baggage that she didn't win.

And it isn't just liberals - Liz Truss (Conservative) was clearly not cut out to lead the UK and Theresa May wasn't much better (but then, neither was BoJo).

Selecting leaders on the basis of genitalia doesn't seem like a great success story, either way.
