nigel99 151 #1 Posted July 4, 2019 From the outside it seems that the USA could really benefit from the moderates from both Republicans and Democrats splitting off to form a viable 3rd party. No idea if the guy is good or bad, but it seems like a good approach
wmw999 2,168 #2 July 4, 2019 Unfortunately it’s all about the money, which the current parties have mounds of, and which they wouldn’t share willingly. That money buys power, which they also wouldn’t share willingly. Were getting kind of ossified in some systematic ways. That’s not a good thing. Wendy P. ryoder 1,410 #3 July 4, 2019 Until our antiquated first-past-the-post elections are replaced with some variant of run-off elections, no 3rd party can be viable. Explanation:
piisfish 136 #4 July 5, 2019 I believe Americans are not ready for multiparty elections. It is all black and white, blue or red, good or bad. One or the other. If not one, then absolutely the other. Have a look at the Swiss political system. Not saying it is perfect, far from it. But in my opinion beats the US system ten fold. Couldn’t work in many other places though, as political stuff is so ingrained in the mentalities.
