For a typical entry level engineer we phone interview 20-25 people for every person we hire. Sometimes we don't get anyone good and don't hire anyone at all. Are we giving them "false hope?" shah269 0 #52 May 9, 2012 No but if you knew you were not going to hire any of them ever but told 5 of them they could work for you for free for a few months to see if you liked them....and then in 6 months letting them go but still making a good profit from the work they did for you...yeah the IRS would like to talk to you about that! The hard part, proving you were never going to hire them in the first place and that you acted in a malicious and deceitful manner....good luck with that one. How do you think Romny's company made him so much money! You can't prosecute intent, and if you can it's not easy! Thus why the outrage on my part.Life through good thoughts, good words, and good deeds is necessary to ensure happiness and to keep chaos at bay. The only thing that falls from the sky is birdshit and fools!

If I were me I'd say "none of them were worth hiring. They did squat while they were here." If I were the people being sued in your first story I would say "this internship program was set up between a college and our company. They worked for us and in return received college credits, as they agreed to, per this agreement they signed."
