Obama's Christmas Tree Tax. Bah Humbug!

How so? It is a fee paid by the grower, not the person buying the tree.

That .15 cents per tree WILL get passed down to the buyer I guarantee it which makes it a tax in my book.

I could care less about the .15 cents its just big brother telling us we have to do something else that they should stay out of.

The government is not imposing anything. The National Christmas Tree Association are the one who is collecting the .15 cent fee from it's members. It was the members of the association that agreed to the fee. Uncle Sam collects nothing from this fee.

I completely understand that. If the National Christmas Tree Association wants their members to pay .15 cents why don't they do it on their own, or not allow you to be a member of the assocition? Why did they have to get the government involved to make this a mandatory thing if you sell more than 500 trees per year?

It would be like USPA saying for every jump you make you must give USPA .15 cents and all of us skydivers not doing it, then USPA goes to congress and they pass something that makes it mandatory.

This has been brought up before but the right wingers maintain the precept of not letting facts get in the way of their story.

Fuck semantics tax, fee, or whatever you want to call it. Stop diverting attention from the issue. The point is not the word, its the actions!

The big brother should stay out of stuff like this its a private matter that they have nothing to be involved with.

If the National Christmas Tree Association members don't want to pay it, then the National Christmas Tree Association should not allow those tree farmers to be part of their association. Not wine to the government about how they cant get what they want and have some law passed.

Agree. The majority of the members seem to be for the .15 fee to promote their product. Those who are not for the promotion should leave the association. Although, they would most likely benefit from the promotion that they do not want to support. Funny how democracy works for those who oppose it.

It's only $0.20 per tree, but yet another example of the Obama Administration not honoring the existing trade agreements. Maybe Obama should implement the "Tree Registry" so that Big Brother can account for each and every tree.
