USPS asks congress to layoff 120,000 and drop Fed medical?

Interesting quote (I had to read it several times):

Currently, postal employees participate in the Federal Employees Health Benefits program, the Civil Service Retirement System and the Federal Employees Retirement System. If given congressional approval, the Post Office would replace those with new plans that would save money, while offering comparable benefits to employees, according to the documents.

I guess my question would be why don't the other govt agencies do the same?

Unlike other government agencies which get money by asking for it and spend at least what they get so they don't take a cut the next fiscal year, the USPS is funded by user-fees and therefore needs to keep costs in check to balance its budget.

Well, actually they are all looking at re-vamping their pay/benefit/retirement including the military ( I received a .pdf in an email a few days ago from one of my former officers, but it's too large to upload here).

Here's an article: http://www.moaa.org/action/lac_issues/lac_issues_update/action_update_110624.htm

Found the .pdf: http://www.msthub.com/forum/showthread.php?3604-Modernizing-Military-Retirement-%28Defense-Business-Board%29
Nobody has time to listen; because they're desperately chasing the need of being heard.
