I'm curious to see what kind of discussion this brings up. I personally think there will probably be too much opposition to it here in the states at this time, but it is inevitable. Then again it may happen regardless of the opposition.
quade 3 #2 November 10, 2008 To say that, "it is inevitable" is highly optimistic. I see it as being highly doubtful. Once a system of power is in place, rarely do those that are in control and benefit from it want to change it. There are advantages to keeping countries separate too such as not having to take responsibility for pre-existing crap festivals.quade - The World's Most Boring Skydiver
Andrewwhyte 1 #3 November 10, 2008 The one world government is coming. It has been coming hard ever since WWII. Neurembourg, United Nations, Breton Woods, The World Bank/IMF The European Steel and Coal Community/EEC/EU, NAFTA, APEC, NPT, World Court, Kyoto Protocol, are all steps along the road. This crisis will produce some international agreements that will form another piece of the puzzle but I think it is unlikely that it will be seen as the precipitous event that brought the OWG together. alw 0 #5 November 10, 2008 Anyone that has watched the EU and the Soviet Union will likely understand that Brown was speaking of an esoteric concept. When and if it comes it will more likely be a corporate world order and not a government world order. We may actually be seeing the early amalgamation. It would in any case be iterative and a long way off. Obama is going to have his hands full with Washington let alone the Nation. --------------------------------------------- Every day is a bonus - every night is an adventure. When I mean inevitable I mean eventually whether 100 yrs from now or 1000, not necessarily with this. We are step by step heading that direction and this may be nothing more than just another step. Depending on how desperate things get, this could be the big piece of the puzzle. I think desperate times can often bring about unnecessarily desperate measures. Although I think things have to get a little more desperate yet, which anything is possible. Either way some day I think it will happen. Either way it will be interesting to see what kind of steps are taken on this, especially when this predominant of a world figure is calling for something this "crazy".
