It's not easy being a general

Recommended Posts

Back on topic.

Gen. Casey is replacing the Army Chief of Staff, this may make the possibility of Gen Cody (current Army Vice Chief of Staff) moving to the Chairmen's position in 12 months.

Gen Abizaid it was said, in the Army circles, wanted to retire but was appointed, so he stayed. Now he can retire as he wanted (if the rumor was true) but he may be blamed in history for the unfinished mission in Iraq. I feel that would be wrong to do so.

The current Army Chief was RECALLED from RETIREMENT, against his wishes, when the then Army Chief was "forced" to retire by the Sec Def's announced plan to replace him 1 year in advance.

As for LTG Petreaus, I liked working for him. He was supportive and as far as I could tell went out and got the things I asked for, for my men to succeed (as did my previous boss GEN Cody). He helped develop the plan for Iraq's Army, he even pointed out its need prior to us crossing the border in 2003. If he can't do it I feel it will be a total loss for Us in Iraq.

I am willing to give these moves a chance to succeed before I speculate more though.

>I'm guessing that's an insinuation that the insurgents are stronger
> than ever?

Nope. Haven't you been paying attention? This isn't a War against the Insurgents. This is a War on Terror. Terrorism worldwide is up, and we are less safe than ever. These conclusions come from our own governments, not the news. Check out the September NIE and the State Department report for more info.

But in any case, the insurgents are getting stronger, as evinced by rising US death tolls. (Unless US troops are blowing themselves to bits with their own IED's, that is.) No one is buying the happy talk about our magnificient victories any more. Which is a good thing - until we can admit to ourselves that what we are doing isn't working, we can't fix it.

As in former 82 Acting CO?

If so, he made a few sport jumps until he was hurt by a low turn.

Actually more like a 360+ toggle turn into the ground. :S Yep...........one in the same. I couldn't believe it when I saw him move after hitting the ground. I thought for sure he would be unconcious if not dead. [:/]

Same guy.

He commanded the 82nd as a BG, then the 101st as an MG and as an LTG went back to Iraq to start up the IA training program. Then I think he was the Post commander of Leavenworth and then in SOUTHCOM.

One day in his office he told me he had near 1700 jumps (I think that is right) and we kept a gear bag ready for him, but the SEC of the Army said "NO" till he was out of Command.

But he did come to a few Demo's and work the crowd with the ground control.

Pretty simple since it is up to you to PROVE he is guilty. The best "evidence" so far has been proven to be forged by your type.

All you do is make wild speculations and attacks on entire groups of people. According to you anyone that disagrees with you shares the same dream as Hitler.:S

I did serve and not in some non-combat MOS. In fact, I am looking right now at a coin I got from Petreaus when he was the acting Commander at Bragg.

He tried to get up twice till we ran out and told him to stay on the ground....Very tough man and a great leader.

Also quite funny when he was in Womack hopped up on meds:P

Same guy that got stitched my an M-249 on a maneuver range and his Vanderbilt Doctor (Doctor Bill Frist, yep one and the same guy as Senator) said he wouldn't run again.

The General runs six and a half minute miles last time I tried keeping up with him, and runs as many miles as his schedule will allow, some days he would leave his aide and knock out ten miles while his aide got his schedule ready.

He still talks about skydiving and his love of "his" three teams.

I guess we will see what your right wing lord and master has in store for us in the next couple years huh.

Martial law.. its not just for third world countries any more.

Those that do not like the characterizations.. really should not support actions that for all the world appear to be that which they claim is not happening.

See nothing but hatred, attacks, and unfounded nutjob conspiracy theories.

I have no real issue with you having nutjob theories, but your clear attacks on anyone that dares disagree with you is pretty sad.

"RePUBICans"
"Lord and master"

Like I said, it is not your ideas but your consistent attacks on anyone that does not goose step in line with *your* thinking....Ironic as hell when you call them NAZI's.

Gee you mean like anyone who dissents with you is Unpatirotic Love the RePUBICAN America or Leave it... yada yada yada.. if you are not with us you are against us....

Nice Try.

Your Lord and Master will not even allow anyone at any of his appearances to have a dissenting opinion or they are not allowed in or escorted from the premises...

Hell he does not even want a dissenting word spoken by his generals...

Again Nice Try at tearing down what is supposed to be discussion in governance

Nice of you to call me a nutjob though FUCK if I did that to you I would get banned...,.... I guess General Tommy Franks is a nutjob too... since he is the one who put it out there that Martial Law is coming.

The Fascists are going to win if you do not puyll your head out of the sand... and take a stand on supporting our CONSTITUTION instead of the Republican Administration that has decided that it needs to throw it out.

Actually, US military deaths in Iraq were down slightly in 2006 versus 2005. Unfortunately, the death toll of American service personnel will continue for the foreseeable future - the GWOT is not short-term. It will continue for decades.

You can also expect to see more acts of terrorism and civilian deaths in the coming years. The islamofascists aren't going away any time soon and they are not interested in making nice with the Western world. Spain, the UK, France, Bali, the USA (both on our own territory as well as overseas embassies, military facilities, etc) have all been hit to date.

There is always a war going on somewhere in the world. There always will be; it's the nature of the beast.

As for the Bush girls...let's re-introduce the draft and let every swinging richard serve a couple of years. Good training! Personally, been there, done that! You?

Several other gov leaders have never served either Pelosi, Clinton (Bill and Hillary), Obama, Jefferson never served but he sent troops to fight in the Mediterranean. Monroe never served, James Madison didn't either but he lead the US to war, FDR WW2,....ect. Military service is not required.
