QuoteNow explain again why I have to have been personally violated in order to be concerned about this administration's lack of respect for the constitution.
Because your not a bad man who want to blow me up with C-4. Well maybe you do but I highly doubt it.

QuoteQuoteQuoteMe thinks some people in other cultures just want to be left alone. They don't want DEMOCRACY (McDonalds on every corner) shoved down their throats.
If I hated the USA as much as you obviously do, there's no way I'd continue to live here.
How do you do it? Must be a miserable experience.
Trust me. I'm getting out of this country ASAP. Unless maybe DC gets nuked and we can go back to what this country was founded upon
May I suggest several countries in Europe, where it is extremely difficult to form an immediate start-up business of your own (unless you go to their colleges). Or, you could try south of the border, where the systems of government are so corrupt you won't be able to squeak a living out of it. You could go to parts of the middle east, where you'd be able to quickly establish work, but risk your life in the process, not being a muslim, there will be some persecution. The subcontinent of Asia could work, if you don't mind the pollution and overpopulation. China, well, they're communists, forcing a market system upon a socialistic frame work that will begin to creak over time. That leaves Africa, Australia, and Japan. I recommend Australia or Japan.
Anyway, good on Canada for the arrests. I hope they are able to glean more out of the cell, and any other activities. They will undoubtedly find patterns of activity from the citizens involved.
Just to prove I'm alive, and it's alright
'Cause tonight there's a way I'll make light of my treacherous life

QuoteQuoteQuoteYou actually have no idea what this government is doing, since it is so secretive
Isnt that the whole idea of spying of someone is about. SECRET?
Didn't you know the Govt. should have no secrets? You must let someone know they are being spied on to protect their constitutional rights. Especially if they are a terrorist. Don't want to sink to that level.
OK, so it's OK with you if the government violates the Constitution, just so long as they do it in secret. I recall that Stalin used to operate on that principle too.

Was thinking off the coast of some country. Costa Rica, maybe New Zealand wherever my sailboat will get me. Only problem I have is to be armed to the teeth to fight all the terorists we createdQuoteQuoteTrust me. I'm getting out of this country ASAP.
Well, lots of integrity points for you then. Where are you headed?

Wake up. There's a culture clash going on. And, apparently, it only takes a small fraction from that other culture to make this kind of splash.
Now, it's up to that other culture to turn the bad guys out. And, they're not doing that, last time I checked.

It is also a problem with our immigration policies. Why let people in to our country if they are from backgrounds that will never allow them to assimilate and indeed want to change everybody else to thjeir way of thinking?

I second that for the US, but we have a bunch of warm, fuzzy, feel good politicians, who think that these people will boost their base. We need to get back to serious immigration control.QuoteIt is also a problem with our immigration policies. Glad they caught these guys before they killed someone.
Don't care if they did it by spying on thier e-mails or snail mail or telephone conversations.
What ever tools they use to catch the bad guys is ok.
If they read my e-mails etc. in their search for the bad guys, tough shit. I am not one of them, so they will not drag me in with the bad guys.
Those who think every gov't in the world is heading down the same path as the Nazi's are perhaps a bit paranoid.
If you do not plot against the gov't or the population at large they will leave you alone. If you are in the US or Canada Or New Zealand, Australia etc etc you get the chance to change the government if you don't like what they are doing.
So if you prefer to have yourself, your loved ones or neighbours attacked by the bad guys (and remember some think they are the good guys) vote for on of those parties that would go all the way to the extreme of not letting the government protect the people by these means in favour of protecting your civil rights.
And just for the record who said privacy of e-mail was a civil right. If that were the case all those damn spammers should be going to jail for invading my in box!!!

Agreed
Too true! We live in a state of paranoid fear of the very institutions that try to protect us. I agree that there should be some oversight but we need to stop obsessing about "Big Brother"

Right...I'll be watching the news for the announcement that Bush has been arrested.
First they came for the Jews
and I did not speak out
because I was not a Jew.
Then they came for the Communists
and I did not speak out
because I was not a Communist.
Then they came for the trade unionists
and I did not speak out
because I was not a trade unionist.
Then they came for me
and there was no one left
to speak out for me.
