Is It ok to brake the law for sport stars?

So do you think the risk was worth it? Do you like how your tax dollars went to this?

It's not a common practice to my knowledge and cool heads would prevail to ensure it remains that way. A gallon of gas spent for the trip and 12 minutes and change of salary appropriated. Not nearly as bad as some of the other waste going on in New England, not by a long shot.

I personlly do not. I think it was dangerous with little to no return.

No more dangerous than "walking your doggie!" :P

If there had been an accident, would your opinion change?

Don't know, I probably would have centered on the driver. The issue is that the written account says the five mile trip took about 12 minutes, with no reference to any high speed escort.
So I try and I scream and I beg and I sigh
Just to prove I'm alive, and it's alright
'Cause tonight there's a way I'll make light of my treacherous life
Make light!

At 100MPH? With no danger of someone losing a life?

100mph really isn't that fast. Most cars can travel that fast with great proficiency. Not to mention that police officers are given a significant amount of driver training (especially State Troopers).

Given that I'm riding a motorcycle at 80 every day, with loads of other cars, yeah, I don't see a highway patrolman going 100 as a huge danger to society. I think it goes without saying that he wasn't weaving wildly through any traffic that may have been present.

They do all the time. Most of them are pretty good at it.

The other day I was stopped at a junction and saw a tow truck go through. On the back of the truck was a police car - or at least, most of one. The engine compartment was now about a foot long and the trunk was in the back seat.

Lots of normal people (Darius included I'm sure) drive at well over 100mph a lot of the time and are probably quite good at it, but its still illegal 'cos it can still be very dangerous. I can understand the need for police escorts when public interest in someone is so great that they actually need it to be able to get somewhere without being mobbed - but a police escort just because you are famous and late seems pretty frivolous to me.
Do you want to have an ideagasm?

Hm, this reminds me of the cop that was speeding so he could get to his coffee break at the station in time.

He hit a guy on a scooter. That person died. The investigation that followed indicated that had the policeman been driving within the speed limit, the braking distance would have been short enough that it'd been a minor "oops" and not a fatality.

But there are perks to every job I gather.

I'm with DaVinci on this one. Completely out of line to go that speed unless it's in the line of duty. In no way is this type of escort providing any service to law or protection.

You shouldn’t find that I watched Fox news odd.

I like to keep my mind open, something I wish more people would try. I will take information from all sources to get to the truth. You should try to have more then one source for news and any information your going depend on. It will give you a broader view. Try it and see.
