skip 0 #1 May 24, 2001 Well now that I’ve been formally introduced on with the onslaught of questions. I’m going to start in on the AFP program just as soon as possible (definitely not soon enough), and I know the ideal approach would be to have all the money ready to dump at once. However that will take me some time. Would making a couple jumps, spread out over two weekends every month be a bad idea as apposed to making a few jumps every weekend (I know this would be ideal). I don’t want to compromise my learning, safety, and safety of others, for my absolute craze to get going with this, and was just curious about some of your opinions on the matter?Woo Hoo Happy hour from work!!!!!! I’m so there. Thanks Skip!
skymedic 0 #2 May 24, 2001 Hey Skip,I had to spread mine out over two months due to my wife not wanting to blow my wad all at once. I think I learned fine. I did two jumps every other weekend with no worries. after AFF was over then I jump three or four times a week(its alot cheaper now). If that is what you gotta do then you just do it that way.be safe and have fun, marc
PalmettoTiger 1 #3 May 24, 2001 Skip, that sounds like a great plan. You probably wouldn't be able to get every weekend anyway; the weather isn't usually that cooperative.Blues, squares,PTiger

ColdDuck 0 #5 May 24, 2001 I would suggest you try to decide after your first jump. If that seems to go really well you probably will have no problem spreading out your jumps. But if you have trouble relaxing like I did spreading out your jumps could be very frustrating and just end up costing you more money. Oh and be prepared to get hosed by the weather from time to time. Not sure where your jumping though (P.S. dont come to Minnesota)Hope this helps ColdDuck

Albatross 0 #7 May 24, 2001 Skip,You may want to try making your first jump and then looking at the program. Try to get out soon after your first jump and then try to schedule breaks so that the radically new experiences are not the first jump you have made in a month. I did jump one then 3 weeks later 2. I put 3 and 4 (my first release jump) in the same day. I tried to make any big event the second or third jump of the day. I know that cash is hard to come by but this is only the first of many big events and checks.Ready, Set, GOOOOOOOAlbatross
mattb 0 #8 May 24, 2001 SkipI was always more comfortable on my 2nd, 3rd, or even 4th jump of the day during AFP. A lot of my friends felt the same way. However, some people I know (including my girlfriend) choose to limit themselves to 2 jumps per day / 3 or 4 per weekend.Do whatever feels best,-mob
Keys 0 #9 May 24, 2001 You will have to decide for yourself. Diferent people have different tolerances to the adren.Back in the old days before AFP (last summer), I did AFF. I did my first jump one Saturday, 2&3 the next,4& well 4 again the next, then 5,6, and 7 the following. The problem when you first start is finding your limit and trying not to push it. The addiction will push you to do more than you can.In terms of weather, yeah, do what you can when you can. Last weekend I got 10 jumps in, and now it's going to rain all memorial day weekend. skymama 35 #10 May 24, 2001 Skip, I had to spread my training out because of funds, and it took me about 2 months to finish. I never had to repeat a level, so it didn't affect me that way. But, I'm sure it would have been better if I could have gotten out on consecutive weekends because then your muscle memory is better. Also, I find that when I jump more frequently, I have a better perspective on what the ground looks like when I'm coming down, so I always do a better job on flairing and landing on my feet. froggie 0 #11 May 24, 2001 Skip, save it all. and i mean all of it. So that you can go through the program quickly. I did the 'every 2 weeks' thing that turned into the 'every 3 weeks thing' that turned into the 'im purposely going uncurrent because i need to save for my last 3 levels and do them at once because the every 2 or 3 week thing isnt working'.i know that its hard to wait to get started, but trust me, this sucks more. Ive failed two levels and it was shit that shouldnt have happened. Mental stuff. mental stuff that isnt as dominant if you jump in short periods of time. good luck. and hang out here!
