GroundZero 0 #8 September 12, 2002 More than 400 sheep jump to their deaths More than 400 sheep have leapt to their deaths from a cliff in France. Police believe they may have been attempting to escape from Clay Fowler. The bodies of the sheep are in a ravine near the Mercantour national park and police have begun to burn them. Officials discovered wolf bite marks on some of the carcasses. Police said there was no risk of contamination to the water supply. The local agriculture department started a procedure to reimburse the owner, who lost 406 animals, nearly his entire flock.
