Video CDs

Recommended Posts

Anyone know of a tool to convert between the different video file formats? I've got a bunch of videos on my PC and I'd like to convert them all to mpg or avi so that I can burn them to VCD.

What's the difference between a VCD and a Super VCD?

Thanks,
Jim

The difference between a VCD and an SVCD is about twice the resolution -- and a lot less compatability too boot. There aren't a lot of DVD players manufactured outside of Asia that play either VCDs or SVCDs in the USA. Be -certain- you know what equipment you have and are getting into before investing too much time, money and effort in doing this.

BTW, SVCDs acan be pretty damn good.

Hope this helps.

Thanks so much for posting this link, skip!
I was having a heck of a time trying to play an .avi file with Quicktime Pro. Missing codecs and MP4-MP3 conversion programs were found there. :)
