gary350 0 #1 March 16, 2004 Reading the thread about the probable eBay rig ripoff. . . Sorry, but I think sending more than $50 or $100 to "someone on the internet" is just plain stupid. There is a very simple and effective way to protect both buyer and seller, for a reasonable fee, $47 on a $1,500 transaction (more if by credit card): http://www.escrow.com/solutions/escrow/process.asp
gary350 0 #2 March 18, 2004 Public service bump. Let me add that I'm sure there are other escrow services available - escrow.com is just the only one I have used personally. . .

I've always had good luck with paypal. twice the seller didn't send the stuff. Twice I got my money back. Still it's a good idea for larger stuff. mr2mk1g 10 #7 March 18, 2004 I have to dissagree. We have riggers in this sport which our own built in escrow service. Use riggers for this service. They can perform an inspection for you - as cursory as "yeah its a rig" if you want or as detailed as opening it all, full inspection, porisity tests and repacking it for you (a repack is advisable with seccond hand gear anyway). At the very least you keep the money in the sport and bring a rigger some trade. USE RIGGERS !
