skydiverek 55 #1 July 29, 2010 My friend considers buying an older gear. What is the good price for this? 1. 'Vector 2', DOM 1991, 3000 jumps 2. 'Sabre 1' 170, DOM 1991, 3000 jumps, 500 jumps on current lineset He knows what he is buying (has 1300 jumps), so he just needs to know what it is worth. Anyone? likestojump 3 #2 July 29, 2010 With that many jumps I would definitely want to see the gear before paying for it, no compromises.
skydiverek 55 #3 July 29, 2010 Me and him saw it and examined it thoroughly. Looks good for 19-year old gear.
dragon2 0 #4 July 29, 2010 Where (country) are you buying it from? As I doubt many here know the going gear prices in Poland. I do know that you can get somewhat better (less jumps) gear over here at a decent price though ciel bleu, Saskia

I wouldn't be concerned about the AGE, as I would be about the jump numbers. 3000 is quite a lot. Personally, I would not be comfortable jumping it, but again, I have not seen the gear in question :)
darkwing 4 #6 July 29, 2010 $700 or less for everything, depending on condition. I'd be very cautious of the gear at any price. Sometimes even free isn't a good deal. It needs to be inspected very, very thoroughly. It almost certainly is ready for a new lineset. -- Jeff My Skydiving History
mrbiceps 0 #7 July 30, 2010 tell your friend to forget about this gear. In comparison a few months ago i brought off ebay a 500 jump rig with a teardrop container and nice sabre 170 main and reserve all for $500 us. No one should be jumping gear that has 3000 jumps on it.
Joellercoaster 6 #8 July 30, 2010 Unless it's for sentimental reasons! I find it hard enough letting go of canopies I have to sell to pay for the next one downsize while I'd still in the downsizing stage of ilfe... If I'd had one for a thousand jumps and didn't need to buy something else, I'd probably jump it until it blew up [edit: Know a guy with a VX with thousands of jumps on it, most of them by him. Reline every now and then, rock and roll!] -- "I'll tell you how all skydivers are judged, . They are judged by the laws of physics." - kkeenan "You jump out, pull the string and either live or die.
