AggieDave 6 #1 April 19, 2004 Yup, Mike is one seriously kick ass guy! I hopped down to SD Houston on Friday to get crosstrained on the Racer tandems system. Mike was cool enough to teach me what I needed, to answer ALL of my many many (and I'm sure sometimes annoying) questions and fully crosstrain me on the Racer system. What did he charge me, you ask? Not a single damn penny! All I did was pay for my slots, not even his slot as the evalutator! Oh, even Ifics got in on the action and rode bitch for me so I could take someone on a tandem. To say the least, he was very nervous (as most non-TM skydivers are riding up front), but all in all he had a fun time. The winds were strong, so I held a little too long upwind and ended up having to do a carving approach, but we even came in for a nice smooth standup landing. I owe Nightjumper beer, unfortunately I really really screwed up and didn't have a case with me like I should have to give to him. Quite honestly, I feel horrible about that, so standby Mike, I'll have something coming your way before you know it.--"When I die, may I be surrounded by scattered chrome and burning gasoline." Unstable 8 #4 April 19, 2004 Aggie, As a TM, what do you think of the Racer Tandem system? Would you ever buy one or Jump it? NightJumper is an Amazing guy - I owe him beer for everything he did when I ordered my Racer...=========Shaun ==========
freeflir29 0 #5 April 19, 2004 QuoteWhuffo you X-train on the Racer for? I'm no TM but it looks like a fine tandem system to me. Now ask what one costs Vs. a Sigma and I think you will see why Racer is about to blow everyone else out of the tandem market.
AggieDave 6 #6 April 19, 2004 Not worried about having another rating, not many Racer tandems around, so I won't get to use it much. Basically, I wanted to meet Mike and I figured it would be a good way to learn some things. I was right, accomplished my goal of learning some new things from another TM and I got checked out on a new system too, so it was a nice time.--"When I die, may I be surrounded by scattered chrome and burning gasoline." AggieDave 6 #7 April 19, 2004 The Racer tandem system. All in all, its not a bad system, I personally don't like how a few things were designed on the system, but then again, I've only got about 300 tandem jumps, who am I to judge. Would I ever jump it? Yeah, of course, hell, I put 2 jumps on one already. Would I buy one? Tough call, I'm really really impressed with RWS' Sigma. So far I've looked at just about every tandem system on the market and have jumped Racer, Vector and Sigma, and I keep coming back to the Sigma, but like I said, I've only got about 300 tandem jumps, who am I to say.--"When I die, may I be surrounded by scattered chrome and burning gasoline."
