snaphook MS70120

Wish pro and contra's and expierience on using this snaphook (static-line) with or without the locking pin?
I am afraid to use the locking pin because of damage on the static line when we set more than 8 people out of the ramp of the C130.
Are there people who know about a accidential open snaphook because of not using the locking pin?

What sort of damage are you seeing to the Static Line from the pin? Is the pin fully inserted pointing towards the rear of the aircraft, then bent down? This should keep it mostly out of the way even with the bags in the turbulence of Over the Ramp operations. I'll send you a PM as well. We have moved over to the new style snaphook and Universal Static Line (USL) for just about everything we do.

The new snaphook is Natick P/N 11-1-6991-1 and the NSN is 1670-01-476-3142. It does require a different end on the Static line than MS70120.

I have only dropped civilian static-liners without locking pins.
Similarly, all my S/L jumps with the Canadian and German Armies were done without locking pins.

Hi, Adam:

I am with the Liberty Jump Team and in need of
at least 12 USL snaphooks. Bourdon Forge used
to give them to me until the USA banned them
from doing so.
