HMA lines VS vectran lines - is it really that good???

Recommended Posts

I've had great success with the wear of my HMA linesets, no less than 800 jumps on any of them. The canopies I jump are non cascaded however so that helps with the wear quite a bit. The do not attract the dirt like a Vectran set, there is no oily residue to pick it up.

Openings are great on my sport canopies, and I've had experience now with HMA lined tandem canopies. The exact same canopy changed from Vectran to HMA showed a marked improvement in openings, and landing flare.

You're not as good as you think you are. Seriously.

And it had nothing to do with line shrinkage or stretching or wear? You are comparing a brand new HMA lineset to a brand new Vectran line set right?

I've always thought they were very similar in wear and tear and strength and strechiness factor.

Vectran and Technora both show wear. Vectran just has a better visual showing of it. If you look closely at the Technora, you can see the wear at certain points up and down the line.

Technora has a higher tensile strength when measured against Vectran of the same diameter.

Both lines will elongate to some degree, but it is very minute.

JP,
What tandem canopy are you jumping?
