Para-cutie 0 #1 March 3, 2010 I have acquired the use of a Omega 149 for a second rig. I have only made 3 jumps so far with it. (stupid winter) The toggle pressure was extremely high, and I really struggled with flaring. I own a safire 2 149 and have no trouble at all. Is this normal for the omega, or does it have some other issue? Because it's a loaner, I'm not looking to re-line it, but could replacing the steering lines, or something else inexpensive like that help? (Besides the obvious start working out more)I'm a little teapot short and stout, here is my handle and here's a note from my shrink. He says I'm getting better. Last week I thought I was a toaster oven! -Dot Warner
skybytch 259 #2 March 3, 2010 I put a few jumps on an Omega 149 and had the same complaint. I heard they changed something in the trim at some point after that to reduce the toggle pressure but I don't remember exactly when that was.

TheCaptain 2 #6 March 3, 2010 I know you are asking about toggle pressure but I have some important info on the omega's (this is a repost) I e-mailed Icarus and explained that this had been talked about here and if they could give me a reply that I could post so here is Icarus's reply The Safire-1 and the Omega are measured differently to PD canopies. As a rough guide a Safire-1 or Omega is about the same size as the next size down - eg A Safire 149 is about a 135. A Safire 119 is about a 109. Use an equation of 8%. The Safire-2 and Omni (Omni supercedes Omega) are measured the same as PD. All other Icarus Canopies are measured the same as PD. The reason for the difference is due to Precision measuring their canopies differently. Icarus have always measured the same as PD however when we originally commenced in the USA, Precision were building parachutes for us under license and were doing it using their size equations and not Icarus/PD's. We have therefore had to wait to supercede these models to change the size equation. Only the Safire and Omega were affected. Para-cutie 0 #7 March 3, 2010 Thank you for the information Kirk. Almost 3 years in the sport and I'm finally at a 1:1 wingloading ;) I actually had read the original post when I did a search when I first got the canopy and before I jumped it. There isn't much information out there about the Omega (might be part of the reason you don't make them any more) but I love my Safire 2. And Chris - Thanks for leaving me in the rain!!! Edited because my spelling sucks I'm a little teapot short and stout, here is my handle and here's a note from my shrink. He says I'm getting better.
