Recommended Posts

Kind of wonder if this has anything to do with why my Dell laptop battery self destructed.

-------
NEW YORK (CNN/Money) - Dell Inc. is recalling 990,000 AC adapters made for
their notebook computers, warning that the adapters may overheat to pose fire
risk and electrocution hazard to users.

Dell's recalled adapters were manufactured in China and sold between Sept.
1998 through Feb. 2002.

Dell's Web site and customer service center sold the computers with adapters
from September 1998 through February 2002 for $1,500 to $3,200.

The adapters were manufactured in China and sold separately for $30 and $70.
The recalled adapters were used primarily with Dell Latitude, Precision and
Inspiron notebook personal computers.

The notebook computers have the following model number, which can be found
either on the surface of the computer or printed on a label on the bottom of
the computer:

The Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) advised consumers with these
adapters to immediately contact Dell to determine if they are included in the
recall. Separately, consumers are advised to discontinue use of any recalled
adapters.

adapter.

There is nothing more dangerous than breaking a basic safety rule and getting away with it. It removes fear of the consequences and builds false confidence. (tbrown)
