Does A Cypres 2 Go Bad

Recommended Posts

If it was made in 1997 it is a Cypres 1 not a Cypres 2. Both the Cypres 1 and 2 have 12 year life spans from the DOM at this point. Vigils and Argus have 20 years. If your Cypres was made in 1997 then it is going to reach the end of its serviceable life at some point in 2009/early 2010.

The comment that an Argus has a service life of 20 years is incorrect. Here is a quote from the Argus website:

"Based on aging tests performed, the service life for the Argus is more than 12 years counting from the first time it has been switched on. "

Argus actually has no set lifetime. It is considered airworthy as long as it passes each 4-year functional test. The 4-year functional test will be completed at 4, 8, 12, 16, 20, 24, 28, etc... from date of manufacture.
