I like the idea, but I'm concerned for the safety of it all since it might be packed by someone who's never packed a skydiving canopy before.

Caveat emptor..
It's your kit, you pack it or make sure that it's packed by someone who knows how to. N.B : This is not beginners kit.

I pack my own PG reserve (round) but many people send them away for the service.
