crotalus01 0 #76 July 16, 2005 my mom freaked, didnt want to hear about it etc, until she saw a video of the Flyboyz doing freeflying. her comment: wow, thats not falling, thats really flying. my dad had mixed emotions but basically said do what makes you happy. he has come to the DZ a couple of times to take pictures of me landing, and bought me a Neptune for Christmas last year. now he wants to do a tandem, and the worry is on me: he has a plate and 7 screws in his left knee from where he got hit by a car walking in a parking lot - it hurts him to step off a curb, and i shudder to think of the consequences if the wind died on his tandem at 50 feet.... As for me and my house, we will serve the LORD...

nate_1979 9 #80 July 16, 2005 I just keep my parents informed of everything, always tell them what jump number I'm up to, told them about my malfunctions and how I handled them, ... I tell them enough that they feel I have it under control.. My first jump was also my moms first jump, and it was her idea though FGF #??? I miss the sky... NWFlyer 2 #81 July 16, 2005 Mine were cool at first, got a bit concerned when I had a few problems in my student progression, but are generally supportive now. When I blogged my 100th jump, they wer the first two people to comment with congratulations. I think they're proud of me for sticking with something that was initially tough for me. They're happy I'm happy. I'm lucky. "There is only one basic human right, the right to do as you damn well please. tcnelson 1 #87 July 18, 2005 my mom was worried when i wanted to continue jumping past the first tandem. now, when i tell her i'm going to jump that day, she says drive safely. btw, my dad is an old AF fighter pilot and he always jokes about landing the plane instead of jumping out of it. typical whuffo pilot stuff. WhirledWeb 0 #88 July 18, 2005 Like some on this thread, I've also not had this problem. My mom and I did our first tandem jumps on the same day from the same plane (she's even went first). She just had her 53rd birthday. Yesterday, my mom did a kick-ass job on her AFF4 jump and is working to finish AFF this summer on her way to her "A". . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . .
