Frenchy68 0 #27 November 13, 2005 Quotewho can shop at the store??? and whats the penalty for this? I mean, from this I am getting that the store is illegal or something... not really sure how it works Starting in the 60's, the Chinese government created "Friendship Stores". Essentially, shops where foreigners were allowed to purchase goods. It was a way to control what was being bought by foreigners. Nowadays, in main cities, these stores are about the only ones totally empty. People are too busy buying ¢50 DVDs, Mao souvenir lighters and watches, fake Rolex, silk outfits, real estate, booze, and for some, sex. However, there's still a big difference between the urban and rural society in China. There are still places in the countryside where foreigners are only allowed to shop in "Friendship stores", stay in "Foreigners hotels", etc... Andrelr 0 #28 November 13, 2005 Are you sure there aren't any DZ's out there? I went to a CRW World Meet out there in '92. A city called Anyang where they had an aviation university. The Chinese dominated CRW competition for a few years in the 80's. Quantum Leap changed all that from 1990, but the Chinese were very active at that time.
