Darius11 12 #26 January 31, 2006 If I remember correctly it is not doing so well as in the making money category. What I don’t get is why they want to shove this movie down our throats. OK OK I get it they are GAY cowboys WHO CARES. Being gay doesn’t deserve an award, or to be criticized. It’s a love story and should be treated just like any other boring love story.I'd rather be hated for who I am, than loved for who I am not." - Kurt Cobain

Any reply to this gets this post moved to SC, IMHO. Here is the sterile answer. Darius11 12 #29 January 31, 2006 Don't want this to go to SC. I was just trying to see if the story and acting of this movie is in the caliber of lets say Brave Heart, or is the only thing that makes this Oscar worthy is the cowboys sexuality? To the Green people if someone posts any thing or this post will cause this to be moved to SC please delete the post.I'd rather be hated for who I am, than loved for who I am not." - Kurt Cobain
Hambone 0 #30 January 31, 2006 QuoteI just didn't see anything THAT well-crafted or amazing about it. I mean I understand the social signifigance of the homosexual issue and that the movie uses this as a way to call attention to it, but to me, it seems that it is getting WAY too much recognition for everything under the sun in filmmaking and acting simply because of that issue. I applaud the effort of the director to break ground in new ways, but shouldn't a movie be awarded for being a movie and not simply what it is about? Personally, I think if this was the same movie about a heterosexual couple, the acting, directing, filmmaking, and producing would not have received a third of these nominations even if they were all the same quality. I couldn't agree more Chris. Well said.Yeah...You need to grow up. -Skymama
