I was hoping for a general concensus, however I am hearing different things from different people. Damnit...LOL I have to paint a rather large room, I cannot risk buying a crap load of paint and having a problem with it. I have a love hate relationship with the vaulted ceilings. laceysocks 0 #29 September 3, 2006 Vaulted ceilings....oh yeah. I actually got very creative with mine. My kitchen and living room are an open floor plan, both with vaulted ceilings. I painted the living room one color and the kitchen another, up to the vaulted ceilings. Then, I painted the vaults in mirroring colors so the two rooms flow nicely. A trick that I learned to make the perfect line Place the tape along the line that you are trying to paint. Obviously, one side of the line will be the color you are painting, one side will be the ceiling, wall, trim, etc. For this example, we will say that the other side is white, as all mine were. On the side that you are painting, seal all the tape with white paint. Paint the entire side of the tape white, fairly heavy so that it seeps into the small spaces under the tape, going into the area that you are about to paint. Let it dry 20 min or so, till it is dry to the touch. Then go ahead and paint!! Do not worry about cutting in, just do not glop the colored paint on or near the tape. When it is all dry, pull the tape and you will have a perfect line!! I was amazed at how well this works, and it takes away the cut in time which is tedious on a big room. I found that if you have any kind of texture on your walls, then the tape alone does not make the perfect line, and you always have bleed off. I attached acouple pictures of my vaulted ceilings. freefallfreak 0 #30 September 3, 2006 I used Killz and it worked out beautifully. Of all places, I went to Wally World and got the tinted Killz. One coat and the color turned out fantastic. Balls 0 #32 September 4, 2006 I was an exterior painting contractor for a few years, I used Sherwin Williams most of the time and it worked great. DON'T BUY CHEAP BRUSHES. You will be sooooo much happier at the end of the day if you buy good brushes and roller covers.
