Mirage Vs Talon FS

Recommended Posts

After waiting over 6 months for an Atom Legend R and being told Im not going to get it till August I was thinking of canceling my order and getting another Container.

My problem is im not sure of what to get!:(

Im a freeflyer and speed skydiver so need something will hold at over 250 mph.

I was thinking about getting a Mirage or a Talon FS.

I have been jumping a Talon 3 for the past 5 years which has been really good to me however it is now getting a little tired and not secure at high Speeds.

So I was wondering what your opinions are on these two containers and which one you think is the better option.

Oh another thing to consider is that I am a pretty large chested lady, so any advice form other girls would be apreciated.

Thanks

I don't know for both suggested rigs, but the Infinity with the "Amazon mod" is good for speedskydiving with large breasts :P

PdF suck big time with delays these days. Very unfortunate for their clients.

I don't have a large chest, just wide shoulders. I don't have enough jumps to provide in-depth input.
However, I've jumped most of the name-containers, with the most on Wings, Mirage, and Talon. I chose the Talon not only because it was the most comfortable, but also (more importantly, IMO) the service and accessibility to the company. I needed a DBag, as the one that came with my second hand Talon wasn't the original, and was sized for a T5. Trying to shove a 190 into that was sheer hell)
Anyway, RI had it to me almost immediately, and Sandy showed me a couple of packing tricks for the rig as well. As a result of both experiences and RI's great customer service, I recently ordered a Talon FX, the newest in their lineup. I don't think it's even on their website yet. There is a video stream of it here though.
The yoke is narrower, according to Airgord, the thing I really like is how it fit my body. I was also wearing the 0 size, so that'll be different than the larger size I've ordered. I'm expecting a similar feel overall, based on my current Talon FS. I'd like to jump a Voodoo, but they don't make the Voodoo to hold larger than a 150.

I love my Mirage. I had the harness made smaller (by Mirage) & there's nothing getting the yoke off my shoulders now.

I've done over 215 HD, transitioning between HD & a sit (avg speed 215 on pro track). When the harness was too big one shoulder would slip off to the side; now no movement at all. It won't budge even when I try to push it to one side. I LOVE my Mirage!!!! And the riser covers have never come open unlike many other rigs I've seen. Sometimes the pin cover doesn't even come un-tucked after pulling - YEA!

There is no can't. Only lack of knowledge or fear. Only you can fix your fear.

I should have worded that differently. RI says it won't take more than a 150 in most main types, but there are some that fit in the V4, no doubt. A guy at our DZ has one too, but it looks pregnant/fat with the 170 in it.

I don't have a lot of jumps, but I have experience in 5 or so different rigs including Talon & Mirage, thanks to the Demo program at my DZ.

After about 60 jumps covering these containers and various mains I kept going back to the Mirage.

Safety and Comfort were my priority, in that order.
The riser flaps on the Mirage are incredibly well engineered, as is the rest of the container.

I ordered the G4 with the new freefly hacky after doing some research. It does take some getting use to, but no more than flying a new canopy does.

Both are excellent, and I don't think there is a wrong choice. If you have a chance to Demo both I highly recommend it, it helped me a lot.
