I live in a bomb shelter

Recommended Posts

so, i live in a bomb shelter, in the basement of my house in boulder, CO. i used to live upstairs, but it was to loud, the highway is right outside, so i moved my bed into the shelter.
80cm concrete walls, ceiling, floor.
2cm steel door.

there is a 10cm steel tube for ventilation to the world outside,

it is carpeted.

is there anything i should be worried about?
mommy said that i might get sick if i live down there.
any other problems anyone can think of?

Yes, your door is not thick enough to effectively stop radioactive fallout. Is it an interior door or an exterior door? If it's an interior door, you're probably okay.

its an exterior door, it was built by amatures i think, in the 70s.
pretty stupid to have a bomb shelter door open outward.

i live in it because it is quiet, and dark. perfect for a vampire;)

If you've got 80 cm of reinforced concrete around the rest of you, that's good; just keep some sandbags on hand for shoring up that door. And yeah, I don't think the opening outward thing is such a good idea. Is the air vent filtered? If not, does it at least have a screen or a cap?

And yes, I know you're just sleeping in it because it's quiet; I'm just curious how effective it would actually be as a fallout shelter. I wish I had one. ;)

5000 for next level up.

Do you want a real Civil Defense fallout shelter sign for it?

HEY!

I know of one of those places in Iowa!

A friend is a tax assessor, had questions about the 'building costs' and got a tour. I've seen it from the outside...but hear it goes down 5 levels like that pic.

I WANT ONE TOO!B|

Lick the carpet and if it tastes musty then....Yep, you got mildew.
