eeneR 1 #1 February 28, 2007 Anyone ever seen a Dell 2850 server throw a "E1000 System failsafe, call support" on the front display? Any clue what it is exactly? Dell isn't talking, just replacing the WHOLE SERVERShe is not a "Dumb Blonde" - She is a "Light-Haired Detour Off The Information Superhighway." eeneR TF#72, FB#4130, Incauto

Alphons Nah not being squeezed...they are replacing the entire server at no cost to us Which is why I am curious. I cannot find ANYTHING telling me what this message really means. Just says call support. I was also instructed to IMMEDIATELY remove all power to this unit as it is a safety hazard She is not a "Dumb Blonde" - She is a "Light-Haired Detour Off The Information Superhighway." eeneR TF#72, FB#4130, Incauto

ryoder 1,538 #8 February 28, 2007 This is amusing: http://support.dell.com/support/edocs/systems/pe2950/en/hom/html/about.htm Every error code but one has an explanation."There are only three things of value: younger women, faster airplanes, and bigger crocodiles" - Arthur Jones. eeneR 1 #9 February 28, 2007 I know, and this is exactly why I posted! I find this hilarious, it is pretty obvious they don't want anyone to know what it means. Which makes me want to know even more!! I tried searching all over the web, as did some of the other techs here. No one could find a thing, and Dell wasn't spilling the beans. Other then it could be a "Safety Issue" FIRE IN THE HOLE! .............there she blows! Gene03 0 #12 March 1, 2007 Howdy Renee, Sounds like you got it figured out. Fire hazard. I don't know squat about computers but that would be my guess also.“The only fool bigger than the person who knows it all is the person who argues with him. Icon134 0 #13 March 1, 2007 Just a thought... but it may be a "catch-all" code i.e. if the problem doesn't fall within one of the standard/expected problems it punches out an "E1000 FAILSAFE, Call Support" but that's just a guess...Livin' on the Edge... sleeping with my rigger's wife... Which normally happens, but rarely do they insist on replacing entire server then tell you to immediately disconnect all power from the box. I am pretty sure that there is a fire hazard...but I want to know what is the cause? My guess is maybe it self diagnosed a impending short or something. But then that could very well have been explained on the Dell site. If you take a look at the link that Ryoder put up, it shows all the errors the LCD will throw up (go to table 1.6)...and what causes it and such. This error says nothing You call, they freak and tell you to get power off unit NOW She is not a "Dumb Blonde" - She is a "Light-Haired Detour Off The Information Superhighway." eeneR TF#72, FB#4130, Incauto

pinkfairy 0 #20 March 1, 2007 The only thing I know about dell servers, is that we had one that took out the entire electrical circuit in the server room. The behind the UPS one. The important one. After that, the poor server had to live in a separate room, and now it's retired.Relax, you can die if you mess up, but it will probably not be by bullet. I'm a BIG, TOUGH BIGWAY FORMATION SKYDIVER!
