Photomosaics

Recommended Posts

Hay I have just come across a cool place that you have have images turned in to photomosaics. The URL for it is http://www.fumpf.de/patchworkr/ The site is German, but most everything on the site is in English, I did an image of Moodyshydiver that came out pretty cool.

also here is a little bit bigger image in case you want to try and see all of the little images that make up the larger one.

There is a program that is free to download and use called Andrea's Photo Mosaic the URL for it is http://www.andreaplanet.com/andreamosaic/download/ with this program you use the images on your computer, and you can tell it what images to use and not to use. The only down side to this program is that it make like monster sized mosaics and you have to resize them smaller to get them to look right. The plus size to that is that after you have resized them they look really good.

disneyland did this a couple years ago for the 50th anniversary. they had hundreds of pictures of ppl in the park, and turned them into all kinds of mosaics. they were cool. some of them, you get closer, and see a large individual picture someone submited, get closer, and see that that one was made of more pictures. .. like, double moseic.

Thanks for the link.... made a bunch of them last night and printed a couple on 13x19 paper. They look awesome. Need a magnifying glass to see some of the detail though!

BTW, the 4-way exit has no repeated pictures in the mosaic. Building the collection of tiles to use is taking forever. But as I add more and more pics for the software to choose from, the quality of the mosaics keeps getting better and better. I think I have somewhere around 11,000 now and LOTS more to add.
