councilman24 36 #1 January 31, 2006 Does the numbes after 269W indicate the pattern of the tack? Or are they just model numbers and the tacker pattern may vary? If the latter, can the tack pattern be changed? Could only find an adjustment manual online for 269W generic. Didn't see the answer in it. This is NOT in relation to the one in the classifieds. There's one closer to home. ThanksI'm old for my age. Terry Urban D-8631 FAA DPRE
masterrigger1 2 #2 January 31, 2006 Terry, 269 is the class of machine. i.e. Singer bartacker. The subclass is the the -8,-11-26,etc. The subclass number tells you what stitch pattern the machine left the factory with, but that could very well have been changed by now. What are you looking for in stitch patterns? If going wider/ longer the presser foot may have to be replaced / modified in order to accomadate the longer/ wider needle bar swing. High speed needle frags are not much fun. Sew safe. Mick. masterrigger1 2 #4 February 1, 2006 Mick, Just to firm up and add to your post. The gears will need to be changed also if changing the stitch number. This applies to all manual bartackers, not just the Singer 269. MELSkyworks Parachute Service, LLC www.Skyworksparachuteservice.com
rushmc 18 #5 February 1, 2006 I messed with bar tackers long enough to get tired of it. If you want, I found a person that will set up Phaff 3334 machines to do what ever you want them to do. He set me up a center stop/start 42 stitch patterm machine with only the specs, an example and the the material I wanted the pattern to be sewn on. (It works perfect) Not exactly cheep but top quality and service. PM me if you are interested and I will send you the contact info. masterrigger1 2 #6 February 1, 2006 Marc, Herbert Jaffe does a good job on the Pfaff 3334's and Jado does both the Singer 269 and the Pfaff 3334's well. Both are in NY. You are right they are not cheap! It probably is cheaper by some standards to buy a used Brother or Juki programable bartacker with serveral patterns already installed on it. I just received another Juki 1900 HS with some larger patterns on it. The price is now a lot more reasonable than even four years ago when I got my first one.
