Help me get my gear

Recommended Posts

ok, I have tried to make head or tails of all the information here on what would be good beginner gear but I have no experance to base any thing on.

If this is already posted somewhere please direct me to the link,

I am about to start AFF. I have nothing in the way of gear right now. I would like to buy my own gear rather then rent. I would like some thing that I can handle and that can grow with me.

I would like to have some good looking gear, but I would much rather have safe gear.

so what would you all recomend?

Thanks,
J-

This page is a good place to start. http://www.dropzone.com/safety/Gear_and_Equipment/index.shtml

These two articles in particular may be of interest.

But, chances are very high that your student program will include gear rental in the cost of the student jumps. Skydiving is one of those sports where you really don't want to buy gear until you at least have (or are close to) your A license... you will learn a lot about your needs as you move through your student progression. There's absolutely no need to rush.

Don't rush.

I almost ended up buying gear a few times during the AFP, but I'm glad I ended up holding out. If I had bought any of the gear I looked at before getting my A, I'd have already wanted to get rid of it by now.

By waiting, I ended up with an awesome rig that is exactly what I wanted and will keep me happy for a LONG time without having to "upgrade".
