SwampThing 0 #1 August 22, 2005 Looking at the 'Quarar ll' as a new container. Does anyone know anything about the 'new' spring loaded reserve flag configuration? Worth it? Looks kind of neat and I really like the way they fit, the price and the delivery time...but wondering if someone has an opnion on the 'latest' do-dad?! The Pessimist says: "It can't possibly get any worse!" The Optimist says: "Sure it can!"
Kimblair13 0 #2 August 22, 2005 They put it on my old Quasar when I sent it back for up-dates. It's nice, makes sense. Had one reserve ride with the system. When packed up I think it looks neater too, more smooth.

If you yourself know what pack opening bands are... well, think about it, they're basically the same thing / purpose... IMHO.

jimmytavino 16 #5 August 23, 2005 sure...pack opening bands.... BUNGEES!!very common a loong time ago.. could also be troublesome... they worked with a "hook and Eyelet" configuration... YIKES!!!! Real old main containers ( military surplus, pioneer 3 pin, mini system, stylemaster, etc ) had 2 or 3 or 4 of them....to draw the container open and allow the MA 1 sping loaded pilot chute ( or in some cases Pilot CHUTES!!!! ) to get away.. BUT they could be inadvertantly set, into the "field pack" eyelets,, which would either leave you with a total,,,, or at best earn you an ass chewing from your buddies,,, prior to boarding... Gear Checks WERE part of the routine,, even then....... The concept has always made sense, though the old design NEEDED to be phased out.. Stretchy fabric seems like a good idea. I wonder what riggers would have to say about it.... Will it lose it's elasticity if it seldom moves?? will it make packing reserves, more of an effort than it already is?.....is it costly ??? is it needed?? .....jmy.......o[:-)
