fcajump 153 #1 March 13, 2005 I am familiar with the Strong rigs from the 90's and later. Saw one on E-bay with an interesting difference... see: http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&category=310&item=7141387389&rd=1 or attached photo (borrowed from ad without permission) Was it normal to sew the closing loop to the cap? Or am I seeing things? JWAlways remember that some clouds are harder than others...
councilman24 36 #2 March 13, 2005 It looks like someone sewed the tape the loop is mounted on to the colored cap not allowing the cap to float over the loop. I've seen them like this before. I don't remember if it was in the manual this way or not. These caps also had webbing around the rim instead of spandex. Not an issue except it makes it harder to change the loop. My guess is this one needs a new one.I'm old for my age. Terry Urban D-8631 FAA DPRE

riggerrob 558 #4 March 13, 2005 Yes, it was normal to sew closing loops to Pop-Top caps. That rig looks factory stock and since it was properly stored, it still has a few years of life remaining in an aerobatic airplane. Another reassuring note is that Strong Enterprises only used Mil-Spec mesh, ergo they were never affected by acid mesh.
