AiRpollUtiOn 0 #1 February 23, 2005 I'm looking at buying 2 cypresses from a friend of mine, problem is that I think that he has 2 2-pin cypresses, and I have 2 Javelins (1-pin) Can I (read: my rigger) just take away the 2-pin field replacable cutters and replace them with my old 1-pin ones? From this webpage I think I can assume the answer is yes, or is it??? http://www.cypres.cc/Sites/englisch/Frameset_engl_products.htm"Don't make me come down there" - God. larsrulz 0 #3 February 23, 2005 More appropriately, this and this indicate that you can as long as the cutter is field replaceable. What year is the cypres? I got a strong urge to fly, but I got no where to fly to. -PF
AiRpollUtiOn 0 #4 February 23, 2005 The old ones from 92 The new ones from 97 and 99 You really have to see the video in the second link, the language is great. It does show that swapping from 1- to 2-pin is possible."Don't make me come down there" - God. PhreeZone 15 #5 February 23, 2005 You need to make sure that the cutters DOM is new enough that it does'nt violate the 12 year life cycle on them also. This info is stamped right on the cutter.Yesterday is history And tomorrow is a mystery Parachutemanuals.com
diablopilot 2 #6 February 24, 2005 If they are field replaceable, the answer is yes. It's really easy to do. If they are not then you can either send them in for conversion (2 pin to 1 pin is free I *think*) or just use them as is carefuly stowing the extra cutter. Note if they are Cypres 2 units, I am pretty sure Cypres 1 field replaceable cutters may still be used, but will not be "waterproof"---------------------------------------------- You're not as good as you think you are. AggieDave 6 #7 February 24, 2005 Quote2 pin to 1 pin is free I *think* I just researched this last month. It is free, BUT you lower the value of the Cypres since 2-pins cost more and are possibly worth more used albite its a smaller market.--"When I die, may I be surrounded by scattered chrome and burning gasoline." AiRpollUtiOn 0 #8 February 24, 2005 I just got an e-mail from Kai Koerner, replacement is free of charge, they keep your old cutters and provide you with new ones. The value bit is open for personal interpretation, if you see a 2nd hand cypres with a guillotine 2 much or 2 few and Airtec replaces it for you so you can use it, you have a good deal. I think it's excellent customer support. And now for the shamefull bit, both units are 1-pin after all so there was no need for panic! This thread was educational anyway! Thx for the rapid responses."Don't make me come down there" - God.
