re-dying rig

Recommended Posts

There are threads on this but it comes down to:

Don't do it. The RIG is TSO'd and its probally a major modification. Its nearly the same as taking a permenant marker to it. Most riggers wont touch it after you do it, etc.

Search about this. There have been lots of posts.

You might try calling the manufacturer of your container and tell them what you have. They can more than likely, replace the colors for mid-flap stripes or pop-top colors, etc. Dying a parachute harness-container is bad ju-ju, unless, you really, really know what you are doing and the type dye and all that is involved. It's best to telephone the manufacturer, they are real quick to help. Good luck.

Which panels are you talking about? It makes a big difference.

There are other options to "Dyeing". Such as panel replacement or painting. But it is VERY much depending on which panels you are talking about.

Mirage pin covers are easy to replace, but I will guarantee you that you will never exactly match the original colour.
Fabric dying is a complex process, best done on full bolts of fabric. Nylon is easiest to dye before the fibers are extruded. Any dying method applied after nylon is extruded and woven will be less than "fast."
Far wiser to just wash the rig and settle for the "experienced" look.
