granpasc 0 #1 March 13, 2012 Somebody knows or made same video with Ghost3 ? http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4cfZZX_dqbk Or somebody knows difference of Glide/HSpeed between V4 and G3?
granpasc 0 #2 March 14, 2012 Thanks to drunk for send me this link: http://www.paralog.net/ppc/showequipmenttracks.php?equipment=Ghost+3 But i don't understand http://www.paralog.net/ppc/showtracks.php?trackid%5B%5D=1180&trackid%5B%5D=1201 How the same jumper with same Ws , the same day (only 3 hours between tries) could score: 903m at 151.4km/h AND 1909m at 248.4km/h (same 1000m vertical) When i see the score of the V4 video : http://www.paralog.net/ppc/showtracks.php?trackid%5B%5D=905 Is it possible without 40 kts downwind? drunk 0 #3 March 14, 2012 This data looks more like a tracking suit jump than a WS jump... LukeH 0 #4 March 14, 2012 When looking at any of these figures you should bear in mind that they can be greatly affected by wind, diving/flaring & for base jumps thermals. The two tracks you posted are in opposite directions (but as drunk pointed out second one looks like profile of tracking jump). It's quite possible that one is down wind and the other upwind. The winds aloft could also have changed in the 3 hours between jumps. Of course it's possible there was a strong tailwind on the jump in the video, but I'd guess less than 20knts. I suspect there is a strong tailwind on most skydives showing a sustained GR above 2.8:1 For every 10knots of tailwind you can add about 5meters in distance per second of flight. In the Paralog competition the vertical 1000m usually takes 50-90 seconds. 40 knot tailwind for 60 seconds of flight will give you 1.2km extra distance! Butters 0 #5 March 14, 2012 Got a high tail wind, fall slow. Got a high head wind, fly fast."That looks dangerous." Leopold Stotch
granpasc 0 #6 March 15, 2012 Whatever tail or head wind, time is independant. When i read 30s at 150km/h, jump after 60s at 240 This data compilation is nonsense if isn't notify type of fly tried ? Everybody agreed there is 40kts tail wind in the video above (V4) ???

BIRDDOCTOR 0 #8 March 16, 2012 That was my videoed V4 performance run. I had a tail wind of 18kts at altitude on that run. I determined the wind from the difference b/t indicated airspeed from the plane and GPS ground speed soon before I left the aircraft. Once I left the aircraft I had a really fun time :)Base# 1638
granpasc 0 #9 March 16, 2012 18kts, that's mean GR=2.55 and 181 km/h during 50.6s Angle= 21.4° : true speed=194.4 km/h 105kts and -4176 ft/min Not so far of a plane ! Quote Once I left the aircraft I had a really fun time :) Really?
