I have just completed my AFF training at this DZ and can only say; “It has been an honor and a privilege.” When searching for a DZ to become a student, in my opinion, there are four main requirements: Safety Record, Student Equipment, Coaching Staff and Medical response facilities. Johannesburg Skydiving Club meets all these requirements with outstanding results.
As for being an hour drive from Johannesburg; The whole point is to get out of the city and into realm of nature both above and on the ground. Plus, there are no delays from other aircraft wanting to use your skydiving air time for landings/takeoff's and the “mine dumps” guarantee you will always easily identify the DZ under canopy.
This DZ is still owned by all its members, hence; The day you become a student you are part of the family and made to feel so.

JSC is my home DZ and I'm proud to be a member there. It's one of the friendliest DZ's I've come across and an awesome place for a newbie in the sport to find a home. Contrary to the reputation of skydivers to be very inaccessible to newcomers, I have found a wealth of friendly, helpful and highly professional people at JSC.

Definitely the best DZ in South Africa. They have everything you need to comfortably spend the whole week end jumping, from accommodation to showers to food, bar, packing area, etc. The load organization is carried out efficiently and smoothly and the Porter keeps the loads rolling to altitude at a comfortable pace. The people are generally open and friendly and there is a definite air of desire to encourage improvement and achievement, I’ve learned a lot from the people here, both staff and local jumpers.

The only negative things about the place are that it’s a bit far out from the city. Takes about an hour to get there from the city. And then since the drop zone is located on the edge of a small mining and farming town, the scenery tends to be a bit bland and flat, apart from one or two large mine dumps off in the distance. But that’s about the only criticism I have. Other than that the place rocks!

I really have nothing negative to say about this club. It runs smoothly. The plane is quick and there's no mucking around waiting. Food is great. People are helpful. Accommodation is reasonable. If only it wasn't so far away for me.

You always feel like they want you to be better, prices are reasonable and all the money goes back into the club which all the members actually own, including the land. The place gets better by the day. The people are passionate, the weather is almost always great, the equipment makes you feel safe and manifest is always on time.

JSC is da best

Oh my god, what an experience. This has to be the best drop zone I've ever been to, and its more than just SA hospitality.

Great staff, everyones really eager to teach you new stuff. When the riggers are in town (fairly own as I understood), you can get all sorts of modifications made to your gear - really cheaply.

They're not a sticker for rules but are very safety conscious.

Can't wait to return..

JSC is my home DZ and I have travelled around so my review can't be too biased. :) A friendly atmosphere, with excellent utilities for families, fab hotel like showers, swimming pools for summer swims after a load..a great place to be, good friends, a high standard of skydiving, in all disciplines. We held the SA Nationals twice in a row. Come join us for some serious skydiving and parties till you drop.

I've only started skydiving at JSC two months ago on reccommendation from a fellow skydiver: "They have a Porter! That plane's amazing!" It really is a GREAT plane to jump from but the best part is the quick ride to altitude. It is probably a matter of being new to the club, but I would like to see the student equipment better managed and indicated to student jumpers. The coaches are great with briefing, debriefing and general assistance.

First I want to state that I am a whuffo. When my son 16, decided he wanted to skydive my wife refused flatly and it was up to me to do some research. I investigated all DZs within a radius of 200km from my hometown Pretoria and all roads led to JSC. My primary concern was safety and everything indicated that JSC was the best. Please note this does not mean the others were bad, only that JSC stood out. Now 2 years later, and having visited the other DZs in the region, I'm still convinced that we made the best choice. Good CI, good dz, great equipment and maintenance thereof, great facilities and great staff and skydivers.

Skydiving clubs and the community have a reputation fo being closed and hard nuts to crack.
JSC is a club with a friendly atmosphere no matter who you are, what your experience level or where you come from.
Come experience our world!

With over 15000 decents during the 2002/2003 year flying weekends only, JSC is the busiest DZ in SA. Plenty of student gear, helpful staff, from JM's, through instructors and right up to the packers and canteen ladies make this a fun place to be, and you have not experienced a bonfire party until you see over a ton of wood go up in smoke while sipping the DZ's classic brew - Buffalo Milk!

Loads fly from sunset to sundown. Coaches are always available to help out. Most progressive DZ in South Africa, host to the 2002/3 National Championships.
Ample student gear and team support.

I always wanted to skydive and finally got to do it during 2002. I am glad I decided to go to JSC. I planed on doing one jump and then buy the T-shirt. Luckly the friendly atmosphere at JSC convinced me to come back again and again.
Now I am addicted to a great sport and I have a lot of new friends to share my excitement with.
