My point is, if the only bad thing you can say about drugs is that using them has no value to society and causes harm to the individual and his family, then where do you draw the line?

I didn't read your previous posts to others so if I go off of what you are trying to point out, my bad.

I wouldn't say drugs have no value, I say it has a negative value. Users affect everyone else around them, bring undesirables into neighborhoods. they begin to not care and everyone else has to experience thier blight. It's just not the same as skydiving where a passion took you. this is about something of a decay that takes you.

Yeah, it's just all about getting their daily fix. Is skydiving or playing football self-centered behavior that should be banned?

People generally accept personal physical risk way over psychological and social damage of themselves or people around them.

Well you don't have to go all-out and legalize everything under the sun at once. Cannabis alone, which is far less harmful then alcohol, accounts to roughly 50% of Mexican drug cartel profits:

You will have to convince the majority voter on this. There is a difference between physical dangers of alcohol and the social and mental harm that is usually associated with pot usage.

Yet for some fucked up reason US thinks its a good idea to send pot user to jail to get ass raped.

It is a good idea. It's against the Law. Sorry, but that's the truth. You can blame ingorance of the general populace if you want, but if you are willing to break the rules, you have to pay. Rebelling is the lazy and inmature way to affect change though. If you don't like the law, you have to change it. Or, you are a very stupid type of criminal who goes to jail for something that silly as possession.

I mean if Portugal could do it why not the US?

Different culture, different people, different industrial level. Different need requirements for not having trace substance per job description.

The U.S. is very neurotic compared to most European countries, my travel experience has shown me. Legalized drugs is not a good idea here. If you believe we can have this stuff around and available and taxed, you haven't been paying attention to Cable TV and the programs created out of popular viewer demand. We already have issues with Alcohol. We don't need other crap to worrry about.

  5. No. Not even with Mexico's permission. These guys are a different threat to the U.S. They aren't the traditional "terrorist" who wants America to disappear. Actually, they love the demand we cause.

Yeah but here is a fun one....how much TARP money did your local credit union take?
    Ahhhh wait.....

And of those banks that took the TARP money how mnay of their CEO's are part of the 1% and did not loose any of their value?

It's ok, I think like a good patriotic American I'll keep my money at the local credit union and and help my friends join up!

Woo hoo! Want to tell the top 1% to go pound salt hit them where it hurts! Their finances! And the only way to do that is....going with a credit union.

They couldnt take the TARP money. Laws are different between credit unions and banks. Credit unions who brag about not taking TARP money are not being genuine. Besides, all major banks had to take the TARP regardless if they needed it or not. This to prevent investors to run to the banks that didn't need it and cause the others to collapse; the reason behind the TARP in the first place.

I'm sorry...i've lived in many countries and do you know what they love most about our country? Our middle class. And sadly it's under attack.

Thus you have two choices? 1) get the hell out! or 2) be a patriot and tell the top 1% to go fuck themselves and bank with your local credit union.

Telling your fellow American to go fuck themselves is being patriotic? How? Personally I don't like credit unions. Their service always suck. they lose your money, do not have many instruments to invest in, and they are not all over the place.

Expected recovery time for the mess these brilliant men put us in at best? 2020.

Well, prices of homes are now at 2002 prices; the last year before demand inflated the prices of homes. So, price wise, housing has recovered. Now if you want to wait till the 2007-08 prices when they were at their peak, you are just going to have to wait till "normal" housing value increases to happen. Like say, 20 to 30 years.

  9. Blind greed does cause moronic behavior. Who cares about if the mortgagee can pay the note as long as the lender can pawn it off to the CDO bond makers to supply the high demand of these "safe investments".

Whilst thst maybe the future the drones of even the 10% capability predator/reaper etc are more like £9M a piece not quite £30K. Drones are great for individual targets and surveillance but still limited for multirole engagments, show off force, mutliple delivery etc

And I believe they are still controlled by Commissioned Officers and Senior Enlisted vs. a 17 yr. geek.

  11. sucks how credit worthiness and ability to pay the note are two different things. You can have a credit score of over 800 and barely clear 30K a year if you have a low credit utilization balance and perfect on-time payments, but have over 1M in net worth, pay bills on time but a higher credit utilization and find yourself with a lower score than the guy above. (lets assume paying all balance off is an ability but will take 10% off your liquid assets)

That's cheating! Besides, I would still get hypoxic trying to build one.

  17. Sometimes, lack of expeirence. Based on a story told by an E-2 Hawkeye pilot: There were upgrades in the cockpit and some of the new advanced instruments went from analog needles to digital readouts. Problem the builders didn't think about was the fact that with a busy part of flight, like carrier ops, needles waving in your perihipreal vision catches the attention better than changing digital readouts, especially if the readouts are constantly changing as the norm. Sometimes engineers aren't pilots or the Subject Matter Experts cannot ever predict the behavior characteristics of an airframe never previously built. I don't think there has never been a military aircraft that hasn't killed one test pilot. I could be wrong though.

At the risk of inserting my own bias, I think the study overlooks a possible cause. Throughout grade school the "smart" kids are used to taking tests that don't challenge their thought processes. There's no reason to think through a problem, or even consider all the possible answers, when the obvious answer leaps out at the students who are prepared for the test. It's the "average" students who are used to having to work harder, and more rationally, to deduce the correct answer especially on multiple-choice tests. For the "smart" kids the challenge becomes "who finishes first?"

I think there's a much easier explaination behind the flaws of this test: Test writers always know what the answer to the test he is writing. He can complicate a simple problem easily. Matter of fact, as curriculum develepers learn quickly, it's easy it fudge up writing a question that results in an answer the developer doesn't want.

'The only national identity this school will care about is American' Easy to say but how does one define American national identity? What is it?

'this school will be guided by America's values.' Again, what are American values? Who gets to decide what American values are and which ones get included and excluded. What makes those values 'American' and how are they distinct from those of other nations?

Thank you. The answer is: There is no such thing as an American Value or American National Identity.

Usually people who say these kind of things are ignorant and/or racist. I'm pretty sure his "American Values" is different than my values. The author fails to realize that he is calling one type of culture in the U.S as superior.
