It took me till I was about 18 to come across drugs.

It took me until I was 35 and started hanging around skydivers.
    12 or 13 for me

It sucks that kids that young are exposed to drugs. Like skymama it was skydivers that exposed me[:/]

Adults do the darnest thing[:/] Oh, and I was fifteen when I was exposed.

Is it possible for you to appreciate a woman athelete just because she's damn good at what she does, without introducuing sexuality into it?

No. Are you serious? I want to oogle the athletes.

They made the Olympics! You aren't going to marginalize their feat by checking them out.:S

I was coming here to post that EXACT same video, and when I saw your link I was like "This is definitely going to be that video"

As for the Portlandia video, that series made me laugh quite a bit. Especially the organic chicken scene.

Me too. I got a new series to watch. Thanks all!!

Hmm. Charity has provided for all those who lack. Sounds pretty impressive to me. Also, why are those citizens lacking? What have they failed to do on their own that requires assistance from other peoples' generosity (provided by fellow citizens)?

This shows me evidence for nomination for "Grandest Nation".

Yep very clear. For those who love God, death is not a curse. It is an inevitable conclusion to one phase of existence and joyous beginning to the next.

So, are you in a hurry to meet your maker? If the afterlife is so wonderful, then why don't more Christians self-deport themselves there immediately?

Sounds to me like there's still just a little belief it might not be quite as perfect as their obviously-pathetic-by-comparison life here.

No hurry, I am here until my purpose is complete. Until then I cherish every moment and love life. I try to do everything I can so others can have a richer life experience.

    ...

    What is your purpose?

BZZZZT!! Nope. Women don't giggle while watching Sponge Bob. They ask what the hell is wrong with you and tolerate it for thirty minutes. We were dating the same species, right?:P

Should have rushed a Fraternity. Easier access to the Sorority houses. Practically all have some engineers and IT types and all pass the "sniff test". At least, that was my expierence in the mid ninties

One thing I don't understand. I came from the standard State University so I may not know completely, but, aren't Engineering schools usually part of a University? There are other colleges on campus.

A movie theater is not completely dark.

Right. Flickering light will make things so much easier. :S

My every day carry pistol (1911) has a light on it (TLR) and when I go to the movies I put one of my Surefire tactical lights in my pocket on my "weak" side.

Besides being super handy if someone in your party drops their cell phone or keys in the dark, you never know what will happen out here.

A couple of .45 slugs to the chest, even with soft armor on, will tend to get someone to stop firing and give you the gap you need to gain time, distance and cover.

Not according to the professional arm chair quarterbacks around here. They say you should sit down and wait to be shot

    Who said that?

... if you had a paintball gun that you could shoot another individual in the face while they move around shooting their paintball gun into a dark, crowded theater filled with tear gas without hitting anyone else in the crowd?

It's possible. That is if people are not jumping over the seats and running in front of you trying to get away.

thanks, so NCAA is doing impotent PR and nothing more

    that's ok

OOp. That was a bad analogy after all. I wouldn't call it impotent as the ability to play with other NCAA teams are based off of how well NCAA is pleased.

makes no sense - the "individuals" responsible should be assessed and actions taken to ensure it never happens again. How does sanctioning a campus make any logical sense?

If an entire staff structure broke down, then replace EVERYBODY and make sure each individual goes to the appropriate trial one by one. Or it's just lazy and guilty individuals get to hide in the crowd.

  17. 60 million a year. That's how much that team generated for the University. I wonder how much went to academics or other sports teams. I believe they would suffer. I agree with the penalties and I agree with the damage to the student body. But they can go somewhere else. After all, who the hell wants a Penn State degree now?

I don't understand the militant anti try stance.

I'm not trying to say not to try. No one here is. I'm calling out all this chest beating. Know your tactical limitations. Know why it may not go the way you vision in your imagination. Also, be willing to sacrifice all. That's what makes a hero, not taking out a bad guy.

Now, are you willing to risk your life for total strangers? Will you widow you family for them? Remember, you are bringing attention to yourself and others around you. This may halt your "try".

I don't carry to be a hero. I carry to protect myself and my wife. The masses are on their own.

If someone is firing a weapon in a room I'm in, my life is already in danger. I wish you would just come out and make your point. What is it, hide behind a seat, hide behind the curtain? Besides taking no steps to protect yourself or end the event, what is your point?

I was being direct with you from the beginning which started from the video you posted. This scenario does not work with what was in the video. Circumstances are too different. Also, I am not trying to trick you, back you into a corner, win points or make you feel foolish. If you did not get my point, then I blame myself for not posting as direct than I though. My bad. I just wanted to put out what I know.

Again, have you had to perform in tear gas? Trust me. It's very hard to do a lot of things in this environment.

I answered that but it didn't post.

No I have not, But I would give it a try if put in the situation. What would you do, lay there and die?

Your eyes are burning and producing tears in abundance, so taking careful aim is out of the question. It also hurts to breathe, and if your perspiring at all, any exposed skin will feel like it's burning. Add the effect of being caught completely off guard, the panicking crowd, and the low light situation, and the probability of an armed movie watcher stopping the body armored gunman without causing significant collateral damage is extremely low, near zero.

    Now that's an understatement.:P:)

I would like to believe that we all would. After all, it's the human condition to believe we can make a difference. But to say one would opt to "lay there and die" as the defensive response to inability of action doesn't work here. This is just beating one's chest and being over optimistic of a situation many have never experienced. . . You have never experienced. You would have failed. I have trained in emergency enviromments like these. Most with the knowledge of what's coming up have failed. I sure didn't do my "best". Ancedotal, yes, but very telling. Truth is, the most bad assed, war-fighting expierenced, well trained person will never trump planning, surprise and preparation. This is documented many times over in the history books and all Military syllabuses in the DOD.

  22. Understatement was a result of multiple complications of working in that environment too many to list, but you hit the nail on the head. You really have to be prepared, pre-emptively, and have to have had previous training in that environment to be even marginally successful. I had to go through both tear gas and pepper spray. With pepper spray, mine and my fellow trainees never could produce the muscle finesse required to bring the bataan strikes through full strokes or even on target. Imagine an unexperienced "hero" trying to get a bead on the bad guy with a weapon that requires much more fine motor skills as a hand gun.
