  1. Thanks for the reply with the technical reasons as why the lense won't work. This would make a great combination if I could get around that issue Gotta be a Pioneer to excel in the future, otherwise follow the crowd
  2. I have a Sony NEX 16mm lense sitting around and want to find an adapter to mount the lense to my cannon Rebel XS camera. Does anyone know if an adapter is being produced to fit this small light lense to the cannon body? Could it possibly work? Any thoughts would be much appreciated Thanks Gotta be a Pioneer to excel in the future, otherwise follow the crowd
  3. I purchased a N1 1J in December and found I could only get 14 burst shots then the camera had to pause to write the info. I tried using a PRO card rated at 30 mb's per sec. The camera still paused to often even at low capture size. I returned the camera and bought a Sony Nex 3A for less than half the price. I found an open box from Samy's cameras for 299.

  5. USPA's recommendations are just that. It'sonly a recommendation and I've seen it ignored many times. It's a good rule of thumb to follow. Although with smaller cameras on the market today it's easy to attach a video camera and start out filming fun jumps with your friends. If you choose to do that, and the DZ is ok with it. Start with simple video first. Mounting is important if it's on your head. Keep it streamlined with minimal snag points. Personally I frown on extenders for eye sights found on open face helmets. I nearly lost a friend due to a line snag during a crew jump. Thankfully he cut the helmet away to get rid of the main in tow which snagged the eye sight during his main cutaway. Yep the helmet and camera were destroyed. Remember your adding to your gear checks with more to do. Turning the camera on and toggling between standby and record adds to your thought list. Turn it on record before exit and forget about it until your under canopy or land. Not so much to add as carrying multiple cameras though. That's where the line should be drawn on experience. I carry 3, one being a still camera with remote. and two video. My focus is getting great stills along with footage for Tandems or Aff. A different world indeed. I've been guilty of forgetting my altimeter, Goggles, and once my rig. I discovered the missing rig at 5K ft. which is my first gear check point after take off and had to land the plane. How embarrasing that was! Not only for me but the Pilot, TM, passenger and local area safety officer who watched me board the plane. . To much focus on your camera work can be deadly and injure you or someone else. Read the reports of camera men and women who died or have injurys doing what they love to do and how it happened. So get your experience slowly and not take it serious yet, just be safe and plan on having long soft openings or else you'll get your neck hurt. I have a little over 1000 Tandem, Aff videos and I still get nervous during opening. I thank God he watches over my safety more than fellow jumpers. We're only human although we can fly. 13. Thanks dragon for your research. I have on on order and will post what I find out. I see someone is modifying the Sony nex5 for remote stills. I'm curious as to what is needed to modify the Nikon. The optional 10- 2.8 lense is another $248.00 but the adapter offered makes it good for anything you might have on hand. 14. World's fastest continuous shooting, Max.10fps in AF-A mode / Max.60fps in AF-S mode. With default settings, you can shoot at a high speed of 10fps by pressing down on the shutter-release button all the way. While shooting, the camera will be focused on the subject within the AF area in the center of the screen. Face-priority AF is not available. (It is also remote controllable.) I just demo-d one in Walmart last night after reading about it on nikons web. It averaged 5FPS in the store on auto focus. It has inter changable lenses. comes standard with a 10-30 lense and is full of features without tons of buttons outside to accidentally get bumped in the plane. Very small and lightweight. http://imaging.nikon.com/lineup/acil/index.htm Gotta be a Pioneer to excel in the future, otherwise follow the crowd
  15. OK, I see a lot of pro's and con's about go pro. I shoot tandems only and still use Sony for footage and SLR for stills. Yes i give my customers 150 stills that capture even the slightest change in expressions. That makes the difference in a magazine shot or not! So here's the latest. NIKON has a new mini SLR. (Nikon 1j1). I demo'd one in store and was amazed at 5 frames per second. weights in at 8.3 oz. small like normal compacts with SLR features like changable lenses. comes standard with 10m-30m lense 10=28mm 30=55mm or so. I have one ordered and it's wired remote controllable. It's seems to be new SLR for Skydiving. Check it out! http://imaging.nikon.com/lineup/acil/index.htm Gotta be a Pioneer to excel in the future, otherwise follow the crowd
  16. Scott, I am using a 4 gig micro I will try a small CF card this weekend. I am shooting full manual except for auto white balance as I have done for many years. The auto functions do well but slow down the shots and use up battery power quicker. Thanks Randy Gotta be a Pioneer to excel in the future, otherwise follow the crowd

  19. Hi, I just replaced my 35mm with the Rebel XT Digi and having problems capturing in the air. Captures great on the ground and in the plane but when I get out the door it won't capture. The flash is firing on sunset jumps but no pics. I get ERR02 on the screen which is card problem. I tapped the card cover with gaffers but still get the same. I shoot manual mode and manual focus. Has anyone had such a problem and may have the fix? Help if ya can Thanks for reading! This is my first post Gotta be a Pioneer to excel in the future, otherwise follow the crowd
