  12. Brains, Josh, Brian, Hobbs, Jason, Alicia, Robert, Shannon, Bryan, Phil, Deb, Kim, Kevin, Kevlar, Mike, Erin, Floormonkey, et al: This message is for all of my friends who knew my best friend Maxx. Every thing was fine on Friday night but through the weekend Maxx became progressively more sick. It hurts far too much to go into details here but I had to put my best friend of 13 years to his last sleep today at noon. I will be holding wake at 1-2-1 bar in the near future but till then please remember the best dog ever. I love you and miss you Maxx; and I am sorry.
  13. Whether you declare Christian and/or Jewish belief as mythos, in my opinion, your statement is false. God did not in fact 'push' Satan out of Heaven. Isaiah 14:12-13 "How you have fallen from heaven, O star of the morning, son of the dawn! You have been cut down to the earth, You who have weakened the nations! But you said in your heart, 'I will ascend to heaven; I will raise my throne above the stars of God, And I will sit on the mount of assembly In the recesses of the North. I will ascend above the heights of the clouds; I will make myself like the Most High,' " (emphasis mine) In this quotation of the falling of an angel from heaven - God is not the prime source of Evil. Even if He knew (and of course He did) the course of action that one angel could or would take, is it in His place to change the will or desire of one of his few chosen? Such an action on His part would completely invalidate the universal concept of freewill with which we have all been created. Freewill meaning: we have complete freedom (or will) to think, believe, and act in any way we choose based on the amount of knowledge we possess to any given situation while knowing fully the consequences that exist for each decision and action we follow. Think Bill of Rights or US Constitution here (you have freedom but don't abuse it) Lucifer was one of the top angels in the heirarchy of spiritual beings 'back in the day'. It may have been the apparent power of his position that the lot of 'lower' angels who listened to his voice of reason decided to follow his will to 'make himself like the Most High.' His will resulted in reaction; expulsion from heaven, not an action of being pushed. No one is 'pushed' into jail in American society, they are sent there (cast out of society) based on their actions judged against a standard set of rules of conduct. Some of us believe this Christian 'mythos'. Mythos to you, truth to us. Thankfully, this is an open forum and each of our opinions may be expressed freely. I have merely stated my opinion, and as his personal friend, that of Josh as well, in response. Open discussion of this response is welcome.

  19. Thank you, Rats! This was a _great_ weekend and the three of you (Robert, Bryan, Shannon) worked your tails off videoing all of us working our tails in the sky! This trio did a GREAT job of organizing this event and the prizes were fantastic! More thanks to the DZ staff (Deb and Phil), Dirty Sally for the live music, Dave Hobbs for all the beer (every weekend), and to Vibe (those dudes are _seriously_cool_) for coming down from Dallas to be part of this great time! Congratulations to every participant as well ! Mark d. PS: Brains, Sorry about missing the Totem.
  20. I was an impressionable 11 year old when D&D started to pick up popularity back in the day. These days I play in a modified AD&D (some Hackmaster included) game every week. For gaming with non-gaming friends I like to introduce them to Munchkin or Robo-Rally. Also, I can usually get four good players on a windy/rainy day at the DZ to play some Grass. When I am home alone, it is always nethack, the coolest, most difficult, and deepest game you will ever play. Alone. Mark d.
