Thanks; and I paid in lots of beer this weekend. I had quite a few first times. ;-) ~Gav Life doesn't need reasons, just participants. D.S.#21

?:11:? I got in three solo full altitude jumps and two hop and pops on Friday. Saturday I did another hop and pop and two coach dives (the second one was my check dive). Sunday morning I got my A license, did a solo-celebration jump, then a few jumps with other skydiviers (Finally). What are the numbers before and after number of skydives supposed to represent? ~Gav Life doesn't need reasons, just participants. D.S.#21

Finally! I can jump with other people. I got in a few jumps on Sunday with some other jumpers. The first was my first offical zoo dive. ;-) The second jump was something called a 'Double Tube Exit'. There were six of us in the formation and one jumper on camera. The six of us had leg grips in a cross-daisy chain such that we rolled out of plane like a wagon wheel. It was AWESOME. It reminded me why I started skydiving in the first place: To have fun. It is really easy to forget that when on student status and pushing to get your A-Card. I'm looking forward to more crazy group jumps. =-) ~Gav (Can you get addicted to something twice?) Life doesn't need reasons, just participants. D.S.#21

That's very true. I go months, even years without touching a cigarette... Then I find myself in a situation where everyone is smoking (like when I started hanging out at the dropzone), or if I ever go to a bar. Next thing you know I'm on a binge for a few days (or until the pack(s) I bought run out.). ~Gav Life doesn't need reasons, just participants. D.S.#21

First post on here, but past my A License now
GaVak replied to SlipstreamBRO's topic in Introductions and Greets
Hey, what's up Josh? Hopfully I'll finish up my A license tomorrow or Saturday and will definatly get some jumps in with you. (If the weather doesn't go haywire again.) Solo jumps have gotten boring. Is there any specific dicipline you are focusing on? I really want to figure out the whole sit-flying thing. ~Dennis Life doesn't need reasons, just participants. D.S.#21 -

No, thank you. I get enough of that on the plane. I love frying Asiago w/ Motzzarella. A good Goat cheese rocks with marinara and fresh baked french bread for dipping. Life doesn't need reasons, just participants. D.S.#21

how much time do you spend on you computador each day?
GaVak replied to SkyBastard's topic in The Bonfire
That's nothing compared to the time I would spend on it back when I played MMOs. Then it's 20 hour stretches, and pretty much all weekend; at some point I just got burnt out and had to unplug. I spend enough time in front of it for work (and now on this Forum apparently). Life doesn't need reasons, just participants. D.S.#21 -

As in computer? 12-18 hours on a work day. Life doesn't need reasons, just participants. D.S.#21 -
Buyer agents can mean more expensive closing costs. I would take a look first, then get advice online, etc. If you feel really out of water, then look at a buying agent. Most sellers will pay for or contribute to closing costs. In example: I just moved into my condo 3 months ago. By not having a buying agent I was able to get them to pay off my lease at my apartment complex. (1300 bucks). YMMV, it all depends on the place and what they are offering for it. I'm on my second home, so feel free to shoot me any quesitons you have. ~Gav Life doesn't need reasons, just participants. D.S.#21

Yeah....soft landings? How do you do it?
GaVak replied to shah269's topic in Swooping and Canopy Control
OP -- I'm still working on my landings too. For every 2 I stand up, I have 1 that I flare too low/high and end up in a PLF. My brain hasn't gotten the knack for knowing when I'm supposed to flare... Though I must say, low flares hurt a hell of a lot more than high ones. ~Gav Life doesn't need reasons, just participants. D.S.#21 -
Number of times you had to retake AFF jumps
GaVak replied to mik's topic in General Skydiving Discussions
I had to re-do level 2. There was so much sensory input that my brain just shut down. I can only recall flashes of the skydive. The re-take two weeks later was a completly different experience; like someone had flipped a switch in my head. I was suddenly 'aware' of myself and my surroundings. The rest of AFF was a breeze after that. ~Gav Life doesn't need reasons, just participants. D.S.#21 -
which DZ around Atlanta could you recomend
GaVak replied to Ralph_W's topic in Events & Places to Jump
I just got my AFF cert at ASC this month and have been going every other weekend or so working on my A license. Fri-Sun they are very busy with Tandem jumpers, so there are a lot of lifts vs waiting around for enough people to fill a load... though sometimes it's a little too busy and you have to wait a load or two. Mornings and afternoons tend to be less crazy. The packing area is Air Conditioned. Since I'm still working on my A license, I haven't had the opportunity to jump with anyone other than a coach; however, there are normally 1-5 fun jumpers there over the weekend that are looking for people to do jumps with. If business is slow you can add a few of the packers to that list. It seems a lot of people don't like the DZ because of the owner. *shrug* I don't really care who is the end recipient of the money I pay; I'm just there to skydive. I really like the people I've met there, and have enjoyed myself every visit. This weekend I'll be bringing my Wii in case of a weather hold. ;-) ~Gav Edit: oh yeah, if you are looking for gear, Mike has an awesome shop at The Farm called ChutingStar.
