  1. Obviously I need to speak to my instructors on this as I have an out the door weight of 800lbs, I demo'd the attached canopy in the picture and am thinking of downsizing to a sabre2 150. If you would please study the attached photograph and my current canopy size and advise accordingly. Not looking into swooping yet as this was my first go under this canopy.
  2. I recently lost 2 friends through a jumping incident and I struggling to regain my skydiving mojo. I would be grateful if only the people who have been in the same situation respond and not those who think they know what they would do, all be it with good intention. I attended one of the funerals last week and it is not the thought of the actual jumping that bothers me, but the thought of my family having to suffer what their family went through. In the past I have as are alot of others an advocate of driving to work is as dangerous as skydiving, maybe, maybe not, but I am feeling that if took the jumping away, it gives me more odds of being around for my family. I personally have never had a situation jumping, where my life has been threatened and the incident I refer to was a freak accident, with 2, 1 very experienced skydivers. Skydiving does have a generally good safety record and in any sport accidents happen, so it's a battle of concscience now, my 2 friends would still want me to jump as it was their passion as is mine, but do I forfeit my passion for family security? In the end only I can decide on that, but your personal experiences may help me make an ultimate decision. Thanks
  3. I loved jumping both with Brian and Emma. Brian was always my first person to speak to on arrival, at the DZ and try and get onto his organised loads. But as he was so popular was quite hard! Thanks both for memorable times.
  4. Hi Cobra, I was in Spain last year, my parents live in Murcia so I took a drive out to have a look at the DZ. Nobody was jumping whilst I was there and the only aircraft I saw was an old AN2 (definately not airworthy) and 2 cessnas, but not jump configured. The Dz is a rough stone/ gravel airstrip with few if any facilities, 2 small hangers and I believe that the jumpers land over the road, although from memory I recall some power lines in close proximity.

My Sabre was manufactured in 2000.
  6. I fly a pilot 150 and am having a smart 175 for a reserve put in soon. Hoping never to see it, but if I do, would not be wanting to worry about landing it like I would if I had had a smaller one. I wonder what other sport you pay £700ish for something that you never want to see?
  7. I can't get my 7 year old daughter to exit from the mock doorway, nevermind jumping although she loves fliying.
  8. I have 20 years accident free car driving, I am going to upgrade to a Buggati veyron, because I have a better understanding of when to brake than most learner drivers have.
  9. Thanks Icon for the info, must admit I've not seen a speedstar competition.
  10. Ah, not seen that one, but feel free to comment
  11. Out of these 3 skydiving movies (1 includes skydiving), which of these do you find most comical? 1. Dropzone 2. Cutaway 3. Point Break I watched about half an hour of cutaway yesterday and other than 8 way stars, no points were turned, but the score boards indicated 14 points! umm. And landing with about 100 kgs of money was interesting to. Point Break is a legendary film, other than the freefall talking parts.
