  1. Next time if you do have to pull the reserve make sure the TSA dumbass has his face right over it so he gets a pilot chute in the kisser. You just can't fix stupid!!! BS Irony: "the History and Trivia section hijacked by the D.B. Cooper thread"
  2. Do you wash or shampoo the hair or is it left "dirty", for lack of a better word? I guess having lost most of my hair and for dignity preservation I have lost a sense of hair importance. It just seems to me it doesn't serve a purpose. Kinda like wearing pants below the ass, you can't run, to get anything out of a pocket you have to do a side bend, and you gotta use one hand constantly to hold them up. Serves absolutely NO purpose. I do miss my hair, putting SPF50 on the head sucks, but there is too much other stuff in life that is WAY more important to worry with. Disclaimer: I am not in any way suggesting that Dreadlocks are or are not connected, with wearing pants low. BS Irony: "the History and Trivia section hijacked by the D.B. Cooper thread"
  3. Sorry Skymama, but if you notice my reply wasn't to the originator. This is a thread and they grow and mutate. I am older and am just trying to understand "the Dreadlock" If I am getting this wrong please enlighten, as I am not an expert. What I am slightly knowlegable about after almost 50 years on this planet is "Much ado about nothing". Please someone explain exactly what a dreadlock is, not metaphorically, just factually. 4. Did the para foil have the deep brake vents? I didn't think it did. BS Irony: "the History and Trivia section hijacked by the D.B. Cooper thread"
  5. For some reason the steering cutouts don't look the same or is it just my eyes? Irony: "the History and Trivia section hijacked by the D.B. Cooper thread"
  6. I just inquired with a friend as to what a Dreadlock is and she said it was basically unkept matted hair. Question: Do you wash dreadlocks? So basically y'all (the ones with dreads) are worried about hair, that if it were on a dog would be shaved, salve put on and the owner reprimanded for neglect of an animal. Man am I glad I went naturally bald, keeps the vanity down. Irony: "the History and Trivia section hijacked by the D.B. Cooper thread"
  7. I started back in the good old days and had taken quite a few years off, now that I'm back I hardly recognize the sport. It seems to be OVER regulated like everything else in this country.. mostly because of lawyers, but partially due to the "common sense gene" being missing from a lot of people. Regulating skydiving to the point of absurdity is like herding cats. I remmember when Ma Death (anyone remember her) jumped with her very young son. He was challenged in some way I can't remember. Back then everyone supported her. It was an awesome thing for a mom to do. Think about it, 18 was a STUPID age to begin with. You can get a private license at 16 and without receiving money, throw jumpers out of your plane. Hell, you can solo a glider at 14 (FOURTEEN). For some reason all this makes me think of a Hells Angel's board meeting where they start discussing a bottle to throttle regulation. BS Irony: "the History and Trivia section hijacked by the D.B. 8. For PGA golf tournaments and at some hoydy toydy golf clubs they have some type of weather service they use. I don't know if it is a pay for service or free. I know they can tell lightning strike distances and doppler winds as well as convective weather. I'll try to find out more. Irony: "the History and Trivia section hijacked by the D.B. Cooper thread"
  9. This scares me more than the other stuff did!!!!! or Did someone slip him a Prozac in his espresso? Irony: "the History and Trivia section hijacked by the D.B. Cooper thread"
  10. I think a great actor said it the best. "That's not flying, that's falling with style" Woody from Toy Story At least I thought he was a great actor, but maybe in this surreal conversation he was a vacuum cleaner. No wait, he was made of wood and floats, he must be a warlock. Burn him!!!!! Irony: "the History and Trivia section hijacked by the D.B. Cooper thread"

  12. I asked my old friend at USPA for assistance. I SCREAMED when he revealed his positions. Now I appeal to the FULL BOARD OF DIRECTORS to please RECONSIDER what your executive committee and headquarters staff have enacted. If you really want Mark Schlatter out, this you shall remember. USPA is voluntary. I pray. still & always, m~ I find it hard believing that a disagreement with the FAA or USPA would cause revoking of your membership. I'm not sure the whole story is out. I do find it ironic that they use a term "unbecoming a skydiver". Hell that was all of us during the 70's. Irony: "the History and Trivia section hijacked by the D.B. Cooper thread"
  13. I think the question that you really must ask is "Are dreads THAT important?" Is all that you are, predicated on how you look or is it something more inside? Isn't it really more about personal accomplishments or goals. Vanity gets you killed! BS Irony: "the History and Trivia section hijacked by the D.B. Cooper thread"
  14. On May 7th 1983, I organized a state record 34 way in Smithfield, NC. We made three attempts and built two 33 ways. I later found out that one of the cameramen had filled the missing slot of a jumper and actually had completed 34 ways. Unfortunately, in those days we had no vhs camera and no digital camera, only 35mm film, so we could not immediately verify. If anyone know the whereabouts of the two cameramen, I would appreciate any info. Their last names were Pickett and Wisely, both from North Carolina. Also, if anyone was on these jumps or knows someone that was please contact me or just post. Thanks Burke Irony: "the History and Trivia section hijacked by the D.B. Cooper thread"

  16. That particular one was done out of the a/c that Hooper had operated and was later sold to Bobby Frierson of Barnwell, SC. He was a hoot! I don't recall where the pic was taken but knew a lot of those on the load. Phil and Tanya McCormick featured prominently next to the engine nacelle. Bobby was flying. Chalfont may know better. jon The picture from "Skys Call" was done from Raeford, NC. That Lockheed 10E was (as I recall) the 10th serial number after Amelia's. I saw it years ago in a museum with a plaque on the side that still read "Raeford Parachute Center" As I recall that was a world record for most people on the outside of an airplane until Caiden used his Tri-motor to put 16 or 18 outside and then complained about almost stalling the thing. 17. We used a Cherokee six, a porter and a twotter, to try the NC record 36 way at Smithfield, NC in May of 1983. 4 of us in the six left 40 minutes before the porter to get to 12,500. Door off, cold, long ride. It sucked!!!! Burke Schnedl Irony: "the History and Trivia section hijacked by the D.B. Cooper thread"
  18. Does anyone remember a black skydiver in the late 70's named Scott Wallace. He used to sign logbooks as "SkyKoon" Wallace. Jumped with him at Raeford, very cool dude. Just wondered what ever happened to him. Burke
