He is handicapped...thats why he was assisted in leaving the aircraft.

Do you mean the guy/tandem student that walked to the aircraft by himself?

Well look at him walking, it looks as if he already shit his pants before even entering the plane.
And they are "assisting him" to the door in the plane aswell.

  2. Well as the video shows, i drove the car on the ground. ;)
EDIT: Oh.. i just noticed the vholdr webpage is down.

I know cellphone GPS can be off, but even though i got this GPS-reciver with the phone i dont think its of the same low quality as built in ones.
When i look at the reception of the GPS i usually get full reception on 8-10 satellites when im outside.
Indoor right now Sitting by my computer and having the GPS ~6 feet from a window i get data from 7 satellites.
    satellites no. 8, 2, 4, 10, 13, 23 and 7 if you want to know:P
the reception is bad, but the phone can easily see where i am and notice if i move the GPS in the room.

This software does not rely any phonereception as far as i know. It does not need to use GPRS to download any maps.
This software is only reciving what the GPS sends.
    See attached picture below.

I will try tomorrow to remove the simcard and try use the GPS, if that works, that should mean operating in the air should work.

When the snow melts i will test the GPS in the air and get back with the results.:)

  3. Been doing some experiments with GPS logging and videoing and i think i found a way to synchronize them quite well.
I cant find the thread right now but there was a thread somewhere about how you would find your exit on GPS data when doing wingsuit jumps.

I made a test video where i synchronized the video and GPS without using "obvious points" (sudden starts or stops, up or down movements).

I used my cellphones (SonyEricsson P1i) GPS and a free GPS-logging software. The phones GPS is a dongle that uses bluetooth to send the information to the phone.
And since i have a screen (compared to other GPSloggers) i can video the cellphone screen for a few seconds which shows me GPS-time.
This GPS-time is also the same data i get from the logger when i download it all to my computer.
So all i need to do is look at the video what GPS-time it is and sync the data with it. :)
I do think this method can be used with other phones and other GPS-recivers aswell as long as they are bluetooth GPS and the phones support Java software.

I uploaded the video for you guys to see, but keep in mind this is my first ever video.
I bought the editing software 2 days ago and do not have any mad skilzzz B|
I completly messed up the video, and by the time i realised it i didnt want to redo everything.
So my ~450 MB file ended up as a 20 MB file :$
    Anyways enjoy!

    The GPS-reciver is a RoyalTek RBT-2100LP http://www.semsons.com/robtgpsxrsii.html
    20 channel GPS

The software i use is vlkGPS http://vlkgps.sourceforge.net/
This software supports up to 12 channels.
Its unlikely that you get singnal from more than 12 satellites anyway so it does not bother me.

And the phone is a prehistoric SE P1i as i mentioned, but since the software is Java *any* phone should do.

  4. Funny, i watched this video a few days ago on Youtube.
Even if it might look dangerous, i *think* he knows what he is doing.
My first thought was also, idiot, but then i watched the other videos he got uploaded.

And it seems he is a circus acrobat, and a good one too.
So hanging/swinging ropes is probably not a big deal for him.

  5. You got some good advises here, but if all of them fail use mathematics.
    Tell her this:

To be 100% safe, you only need the parachutes to work 50% of the time (50% on main, and 50% on reserve).
But the facts is, they only fail in 1 of ~400 times.
    So im supersafe honey!

Now if she belives this, keep in mind that you can get away with ANYTHING so skydiving might be a smal price to pay for that freedom.
    :P

Good luck on your skydiving career.

If a line snagged it I still think it would come off but I have the safety leash attached to the helmet.

    What would come off?
    Camera? :|
    Mount? [:/]
    Saftey leash?
    Mount? ;)
    Helmet? B|
    Head? B|:S
    :P

I agree i also think the 60 fps is better. The video "flows" better.
But i think that is because we watch the videos on computers.
If you would play it on a DVD (BluRay) on the TV i would imagine the 1080 would look better as the Disc-players are limited to 30 fps (25 PAL).
But that is my guess, i havnt tried it.

Yes, you do get more fisheye at the lower resolutions. Its supposed to be that way.

  7. First off all i dont really understand the purpose of this thread.
Is it to know what camera that has sold the most or is it to know what camera is the best?

Because making a poll like this, people that bought the Gopro will vote Gopro because they feelt it was the best camera and vice versa.
So the result of your poll will basicly only show you the marketshare of the cameras.

Mounts, i would say that none of the included are good. If you hit the door while exiting with the Gopro it will/might offset the camera angle.
Do the same with the Contour and it might fall off.
    So which is best?
You dont buy a Sony 105 and use the stock mount (they dont have one, but still).

Price, the pricedifference is $20 i hope you are not making your decisions on $20.
Or where you thinking Gopro/Contour vs Sony?

Accessories, You mean bags and stickers? :P

Videoquality is in my opinion about the same if you look at the raw videofiles.
I think the waterproof case that comes with the Gopro makes the sound horrible, and i dont know if its because of the case that you hear this beepingsound from the camera.
But also cudos for the case, Contour has waterproof case but it costs extra.

The Gopro has a much bigger chance of snagging as its bulkier than the Contour.

If you want a camera that nobody will ever steal from you it would be the Gopro, because it is so UGLY B|

Find out what you need first.
Do you need the waterproof case?
Where will you use the camera? Only in skydiving?
Do you need the ability to take still pictures.
And so on, and you will find out which is the best for you and not which has the biggest marketshare.

  8. Well if you dont use the visor, your helmet will basicly be just as any other helmet so mounting shouldnt be any problem.
The way that my camera is attached to my helmet in the picture its aimed straight froward, if i would do a belly jump i think i will move the camera back a bit to give it a more 'up-angle'.

  9. My contour is attached with 3M duallock velcro, and belive me it wont come off.
My helmet bends when i try to remove it, offcourse i can get it off but it takes alot of force.

    http://www.hellis.me/Side.JPG
    http://www.hellis.me/Front.JPG

With this mount i have a "snagfree" camera that i easily can adjust the angle by moving the camera forward or backwards on the helmet.
I can also mount it backwards for shoting the deployment.

Sure. Unless you actually give a shit about freedom and human rights.

i have stayed out of this discussion long enough, but that makes me angry!

talking about human rights, what religion is the most opressive today?
the women of islam has no rights what so ever, they have to do what men says.
is that really how we are supposed to live in 2009?

was it a month ago media wrote about a woman who was wearing pants. if she loses in court she will get 40 whipps.
why should women not be allowd to use pants?

the past couple of years there has been several cases where the family murders their daughters because she was a shame for the family.
    seriously???

in sweden, im not joking, we are not allowd to sing our national anthem or to have our flag on flagpole.
its considerd racism by some immigrants, and its not our dannish or finnish immigrants im talking about.

a workcolleague who is a muslim told us at work that his wife has not left the appartment since they moved in, SEVEN YEARS AGO.
he claims she dont want to. even if that is true, its a mental illness which any loving husband should help her treat but he dont care.

i think its time to wake up the muslims and tell them they can cant treat their women the way they do.
saying no to minarets might not be the perfect soultion for that, but saying yes all the time sure wont help.
i know this post might seem as if im a racist, but im really not, i have actually worked with integration and i try to be as open minded as possible.

in what i would see as a perfect world there wouldnt be any religion, in that way you cant say "your different".
look at children, when they are 5 years old they can all play togheter, but when they grow 2 foot taler they cant. why? is it thin air?
most likely not, its because they have different religions and different culture. because of that, they are different.
and all that is because "my god says this, and your god says that".

  11. so tips is considerd income even if its below minimum wage. i can see how it should be that way and but more how it should not.

i dont have a problem with tipping, but i hate when im not allowd to tip by my own will, instead they tell you or very clearly show you the tip jar.
a tip is something you give, not something you take.

  12. i remember when we lived on a hotel outside kruger park named crocodile inn, i cant remember the name of the town.
but anyways, there was a river right next to the hotel.
me and a friend walked down to the river, and aprox 10 feet from the water there was this wire at about ankle height, and we just thought "what an jackass, someone might trip and fall in the river".
we walked along the river for a while and later sat down to talk, a few minutes later a man came down to us and said:
    "uuuummmm.... i dont recomend that"
    "what?"
"ummm... there can be crocodiles and poison snakes in the water, thats why this wire is here"

anywhere else in the world they would scream at you "get away from there!!!", but he was so calm that it almost didnt make sense

Most restaurants/bars now report tips for the employee at about 11 or 12 percent of sales, regardless of what was actually received. A tipped employee's taxes are based on those reported tips. Tip less than 10% and it actually costs a server/bartender to serve you.....The days of unreported income in the service industry have slowly been coming to and end......[:/]

i thought about that too, if you get the tip in cash, how does that work with pension or unemployment funds?
maybe that is completly different from here, but here both pension and unemployment funds are based on your income, so working under the table has a very negative effect on those parts.

EDIT: if your employer does not report the tips as you said
